Optional Cross Country practice for middle and high school students will start July 1
FCS covers more than 75% of the cost of our athletics program. Our registration fees help offset the cost of facilities, officials, coaches, and equipment. For teams that need uniforms, each athlete will purchase their own or a fundraiser can be organized by the team to purchase uniforms. Each team is expected to conduct one fundraiser to help cover the cost of its season. Additionally, families who participate with us through The Comenius School will pay an additional $75 per sport per athlete.
2024–2025 Costs:
Archery: $250 for 10 sessions
Cross Country: $200 (+$20 uniform)
Football: $325 (+$30 practice gear)
MS Football: $225 (+$30 practice gear)
Volleyball: $300 (+$50 uniform)
Basketball: $300 (+$30 practice jersey)
Golf: $175 (+$50 team polo)
Soccer: $250 (+$80 uniform)
Tennis: $200 (+$25 team jersey)
Baseball: $275 (+$85 uniforms)
At FCS, we believe athletics are an extension of the classroom and a vital part of education Athletics not only support student health and fitness but also provide further opportunity to build a biblical worldview by fostering character development
Miss Camille Floyd is our new Dance Company coach. Miss Floyd is a graduate of The Comenius School, where she played on FCS athletic teams, and is currently pursuing at B.A., 60 hours of which have been completed at Hillsdale College. She's a friend of Coach Mattie Tichenor and Miss Merry Holland Coach Tichenor and Miss Floyd both trained at HisTown Dance Studio. She looks forward to discipling our young ladies as she coaches them.
Mrs. Lindsay Gipe has accepted the position of 5th grade teacher. She graduated from the prestigious Christian school Biola University in La Mirada, California, earning a B A with a double major in English and Composition and a minor in Bible. Mrs. Gipe has had classroom experience at Walnut Grove Elementary and Heart Christian Academy as well as substituting in the FCS Grammar School She and her husband Tyler have two children, Willow and Penny, who are FCS students.
Mrs. Erin Hurt will assist Mrs. Thatcher in 4th grade this year Mrs Hurt received a Bachelor of Business Administration from Roanoke College and has impressive business and marketing experience. She now desires to join the FCS faculty and invest further in our school community She and her husband Joshua have three daughters, Abigail, Ansleigh, and Amelia, who are FCS students. They are committed believers, and Mrs. Hurt’s Christ-like life will serve as another excellent example to our children
Miss Grace LaFave, our new 6th grade teacher, comes with enthusiastic recommendations from several deeply committed FCS families. Miss LaFave is a graduate of Samford University where she earned a double major in English and Secondary Education. While in college, she taught and assisted in several public middle schools She's familiar with classical Christian education and knows Latin. She served as the Literature Editor for the Samford English Department's academic journal and has worked as the Director of Samford's Writing Lab and as an editor for academic books by Dr. Timothy Sutton. She's also been active in the youth ministry at her local church in Birmingham
After graduating from FCS in 2020, Miss Molly Smith attended Davidson College, one of America's most selective colleges, as a QuestBridge Scholar She earned a B A in Classical Languages and Literature, graduating Magna Cum Laude. During her senior year at Davidson, she was a Latin assistant teacher, and this summer marks her 6th year teaching children's visual arts. Miss Smith will also teach our Ensemble classes this year and serve at the front desk on Mondays.
Mrs. Stefani Rose Martin, a friend and colleague of Mrs. Austin’s, earned a Master of Fine Arts from Yale School of Drama in Acting She has an extensive background producing, directing, acting, and singing. She currently works part-time teaching theater for ReNew Academy and will be teaching several classes and producing corresponding plays at the Williamson County Performing Arts Center this summer.
