Visitors All FCS visitors must sign in at the second-floor front desk and obtain a visitor's badge, regardless of the reason for the visit. Individuals who do not sign in will not be allowed past the front desk. Drop-off lunches, backpacks, books, water bottles, etc. should be left at the front desk and will be delivered to the appropriate classrooms.

Visitors to the K-1 hallway must also check in at the second-floor desk and will be escorted downstairs.

Parent Parking Please remember our parking lot is a paid/permitted lot and we cannot offer free parking to parents or guests. Please park on the street or in the 4th Avenue parking garage to avoid parking fees or tickets.

HOT LUNCH CARDS Once again, the Senior Class will be selling hot lunches on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Off-Campus Policy Freshmen and sophomores may sign out and leave campus without a parent or guardian for lunch if their parents have completed the form giving them permission to do so. 2024–2025Athletics Dress Code We at Franklin Classical School believe that the Lord Jesus Christ is Lord over all things including standards of dress and modesty, for all we do takes place––corum deo––before the face of God. It is our desire to honor Christ with our outward appearance as well as in our heart and with our behavior.

It is with these things in mind that we have set the following guidelines for dress at Franklin Classical School.

Be clean: Clothing should be free from dirt and stains.

Be neat: Wear attractive clothing in compliance with your biological sex as stated on your original birth certificate. Clothing will be free from wrinkles, holes, tears, fraying, fading, and tatters. Clothing will be appropriately sized for the wearer, being neither too tight nor excessively large. Unnatural hair colors and tattoos will not be allowed. Piercings are not allowed, other than single ear lobe piercing for girls. Shoes will be worn in class, in the hallways, and at school functions.

Be modest: Clothing will completely cover undergarments at all times. Shirts may not reveal any midriff area when standing or sitting. Cleavage must be covered.

Enforcement of School Clothing Guidelines If a student dresses in a way that does not meet the requirements of the dress code, a parent will be called, and the student will not be allowed to attend classes until his or her attire is appropriate. The parent may select one of the following options: Bring appropriate attire to the school.

Come to school and take the student home.

Instruct a student who drives to go home and change clothes.

Note: These enforcement guidelines also apply to days when presentation attire is required.

Presentation Attire Ladies—a skirt or dress that meets the dress code requirements listed above. No jeans, leggings, or other pants worn under the skirt or dress. No athletic shoes.

Gentlemen—a dress shirt and tie with slacks. No denim. No athletic shoes.

Attire for Special Events Events such as drama rehearsals, field trips, or selected days at school may call for clothing options that will be communicated from the teachers.

King's Mountain Camp As our 7th – 12th graders prepare to spend their first week of school at King's Mountain Camp, we want to share the background and the purpose of this experience. Camp week is planned months ahead of time by the senior class along with Mr. Scherrer, and they also facilitate all events throughout the week.

Various teachers, staff, and alumni attend as chaperones.

While camp involves fun activities (the annual flour war!) and some free time, it also includes chapels, discipleship, and a beneficial time for new students to get to know their new schoolmates and for returning students to reconnect with each other and welcome new friends.

Because King's Mountain Camp takes place during the first week of school, attendance is not optional. These days count as school days and absences are unexcused. This week lays the foundation for the success of the school year, and students learn valuable lessons they will carry with them indefinitely.

Between 1997 and 1999, FCS more than doubled its enrollment, and it became evident that in order to guard the culture of the school, we needed to take steps to wisely and graciously enfold new students and their families. We had already pioneered a yearly summer educational conference, but we felt something more intimate, more covenantal, and more fun was needed.

At first, we considered the possibility of an allday retreat or field day with a picnic, but our plans grew quickly, and we decided to rent a camp facility. Thus was born King’s Mountain Camp, one of the most distinctive aspects of our life and history together.

Here we introduce the FCS Honor Code, King Alfred’s War Song, and many of the traditional stories and biblical principles that help set the culture of the school. The week culminates with students signing the honor code. Seniors pray over each class, and alumni come to pray for the seniors. This past year a record 25 alumni came to pray over our senior class during the signing ceremony.

FCS King’s Mountain Camp Tuesday through Friday August 13–16, 2024 Departure: Arrive by 9:45 am on Tuesday, August 13th, in the FCS parking lot. Students must wear the camp t-shirts given at our Back-to-School meeting on August 10th.

Return: Friday, August 16th, 11:15 am – FCS parking lot What to Bring: Bible, journal, pen 1 suitcase – The luggage tag you will be given at the Back-to-School Bash MUST be attached to your suitcase. Please be sure pillows or any other loose items are labeled with the student’s name.

1 pair of jeans and a light jacket or hoodie in case of rain or a cool evening Modest shirts that align with the new FCS dress code (solid color t-shirts or polos are allowed) Modest shorts with at least a 4-inch inseam. Gym shorts are acceptable if they meet length requirements.

The Franklin Classical School Prayer Team is a practical way to pray more frequently and intentionally. It also gives you an opportunity to invite people into greater prayer!

During each meeting we will pray a verse over each child, staff member, and teacher.

We will also cover our school and country in prayer!
