FOR SEPTEMBER 2026 ENTRY
“It is a wonderful thing if a child has talent, ambition and a hunger to develop further. At Framlingham, we provide the right environment for these talents to flourish.”
At Framlingham, we are interested in uncovering genuine scholarliness. We want our Scholars to demonstrate excellence and commitment, curiosity and a spirit of inquiry. We are looking for a genuine hunger to develop knowledge and understanding, and a willingness to promote the joy to be found in learning different skills.
Scholarships at Framlingham College are highly sought after because of the outstanding pathways that we provide for our Scholars. These pathways offer opportunities for mentoring, enrichment and extension in all fields. We challenge our Scholars and encourage them to question the status quo. We instil in them a profound sense of purpose and whole-hearted commitment. In return we expect our Scholars to push themselves as far they can go, to set the example, inspire others and be ambassadors for the College in all that they do.
It is a wonderful thing if a child has talent, ambition and a hunger to develop further. At Framlingham, we provide the right environment for these talents to flourish and we are delighted, every year, to welcome new Scholars to the College.

Our Sport Scholars at Framlingham College get:
• Coaching and mentoring: One-to-one and small group coaching is offered to Sports Scholars in the focused sport(s), as well as structured weekly team programmes and advanced playing opportunities, including playing out of age group where appropriate. Sport Scholars will be mentored in line to their current aspiration – Elite or Performance based reporting to the Head of Sport and/or Head of Sporting Scholars.
• Competition: We take the time to plan a competition and playing schedule in advance with all Sports Scholars and we construct a balanced yet challenging competitive programme across all sports for our teams. Along with our High Performing Policy we will manage Scholars in accordance with this taking into account representative sport too. We are well-versed in co-ordinating specialised training programmes, for example with professional clubs, within our own existing provision and or when Scholars can’t attend representative training as our coaching staff who are of a very high calibre will work in collaboration with these clubs to support and train up our scholars.
• Support and development: There are seminars every half-term for Sports Scholars on a range of topics, including nutrition and the psychology of sport. Analysis meetings are organised for the respective focused sport(s) across each term. Specialised Strength & Conditioning support which is age group related is available for all Scholars as well as termly testing to help track and monitor
development whilst physiotherapy and sports rehabilitation services can be booked through our Medical Centre. In the Prep school Scholars are encouraged to lead and take an active role in sport. Sporting exchange programmes with some of the leading South African schools are available to pupils in Year 11 for Hockey and Rugby. In the 6th Form sporting coaching and officiating opportunities are encouraged to those expressing a desire to move into these areas which starts here at the College in helping coach on our programmes to gain some experience..
• Focus on the individual: Following on from the coaching and mentoring section - Sports Scholars have a mentor who encourages them to adopt a multi-sport approach until specialisation becomes a necessity. Scholars are directed to pursue courses in Sports Leadership, Coaching, Officiating and other related specific sport courses in order to deepen their understanding of their chosen sport(s). We give each individual Sports Scholar a bespoke programme of sport and development that will give them the best possible opportunity to fulfil their potential but also enjoy a varied educational programme here at the College. This may also involve them in being able to attend and train external to the school at professional clubs.
• The next steps: We have developed outstanding relationships with local clubs, professional clubs, constituent bodies, universities in the UK and the US and National Governing Bodies to offer clear and proven pathways to sporting excellence. We aim to help prepare our Scholars for the transition from school to club/university/professional contract/National representation through everything we do.

AT FRAMLINGHAM COLLEGE WE CELEBRATE EVERY INDIVIDUAL. THERE IS NO TYPICAL FRAMLINGHAMIAN, NO SINGULAR PATH THAT WE TAKE.
We are academics, actors, musicians, expeditioners, sports people, innovators, scientists, ruminators, decision makers, story tellers, teammates, artists, fun lovers, nurturers and thought provokers.
Often, we are many things within one. BUT WE ARE ALL INDIVIDUAL, EACH WITH OUR OWN STORY.
