Welcome to Summer Camp 2025!

The Park District of Franklin Park is excited to welcome campers ages 2 to 14. If you are looking for a high-quality, affordable camp program, look no further!

Camps by Age

Camps for ages 5 and up are listed by grade. Please register your child according to their age by September 1, 2025. Your child must be the correct age for 2, 3, and 4-year-olds by the first day of camp. Campers are grouped by grade or age. Friend and family grouping requests are not permitted.

Session Length

The Tot and Sunshine Camp sessions are four weeks long, and the mini-session is three weeks long. The Discovery and Teen Camp sessions are two weeks long, and the mini-session is one week long. Mini Session is available for Teen campers by joining Discovery Camp.

Days of Week

To accommodate families, we offer three registration options: Monday through Friday, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, or Mix and Match (M&M). M&M allows you to pick three days of camp instead of the traditional M/W/F. For M&M, the days must remain the same for each session and be submitted upon registration.

Vacation

We will permit a one-week rebate once per summer and per child if requested at registration to accommodate family vacations.

Camp Staff

Park District camp counselors, group leaders, and managers participate in a training program to provide a fun and safe camp. Specific staff-to-camper ratios are always maintained to provide a safe environment. The staff-to-camper ratios are as follows:

• Kindergarten & under: 1 staff to 6 campers

• Grades 1-2: 1 staff to 8 campers

• Grades 4-8: 1 staff to 10 campers

Registration Information

• Resident registration opens Tuesday, March 4. Please ensure your residency pass is up to date, or you will not be able to register.

• Non-resident registration opens Thursday, March 6.

Camp Registration Deadlines

• To plan activities and maintain staff-to-camper ratios, we ask that you register for each session by 5 pm on Friday before the new session begins. You may register after this deadline only with permission from the Program Manager. In addition, registering after this deadline will delay your child’s start date at camp.

• Day of camp registration is not permitted. If you register your child after the session has begun, your child may start camp the following day once their emergency and medical information is submitted via ePACT.

Summer Camp

Field Trips

Discovery Camp goes on a field trip once per session. Teen Camp goes on a field trip twice per session. The days of the field trips vary depending on site availability and schedules. Tot and Sunshine Camps do not go on field trips. Camp schedules, including field trips, are available on the Park District website.

Parent Manuals

The Parent Manual, which includes more detailed information, such as what to bring to camp, is available on the Park District website.

Inclusion Services

The Park District of Franklin Park welcomes participation in all programs and activities by individuals with disabilities and special needs. The Park District works cooperatively with West Suburban Special Recreation Association (WSSRA) to support children who enroll in Park District programs.

If your child may need additional support due to a disability, don’t hesitate to contact the Park District in advance – call 847-455-2852 or email srivera@fpparks.org. Our recreation team and WSSRA will evaluate each request to determine what accommodations or aid your child might need. Participants requesting inclusion services must adhere to the Park District of Franklin Park’s Behavior Management/Code of Conduct.

Camper Emergency Forms

The Park District of Franklin Park utilizes ePACT for camper emergency contact information, pickup authorizations, pertinent medical information, and medication dispensing authorization. Within 24 hours of registration, an email invitation will be sent to the parent/guardian to compete ePACT forms. All fields and forms must be completed and submitted a week before your child’s first day of camp. Campers must have updated ePACT forms submitted by drop-off on their first day of camp.

Family Situations

Staff understand and respect the differences in all families and will do their best to accommodate individual circumstances. In divorce or separation situations, Park District staff will not act as an intermediary between parents and will contact the police if necessary. All custodial parents/guardians should be listed as parents/guardians in ePACT. If requested, we can email both parents/guardians program information.

In cases where the child is subject to a court order (i.e., Custody Order, Restraining Order, or Protection from Abuse Order), a Certified Copy of the most recent order and all amendments must be uploaded into ePACT.

Without a court order on file, both parents will have equal access to their child as stipulated by law. The Park District cannot limit the access of one parent at the request of the other parent, regardless of the reason. Staff will contact the police should a conflict arise.

Camper Expectations

The Park District of Franklin Park reserves the right to dismiss a camper from our camp program if he/she does not demonstrate appropriate behavior. See Code of Conduct/Behavior Management.

Code of Conduct/Behavior Management

Camp staff and managers take reasonable steps to reduce the risk of wrongdoing when camper misconduct occurs. A prompt resolution will be sought for each situation. If the risks cannot be eliminated, consequences will result and may lead to suspension or dismissal from camp. Parents/Guardians must acknowledge the Park District Code of Conduct in the camper’s ePACT forms. For more information on types of misconduct and consequences, refer to the Parent Manual and/or ePACT.

If a parent or guardian intimidates, threatens, or harms their child, another child, a staff member, another parent/guardian, or damages Park District property, he/she will be subject to suspension from Park District property under the Park District Control Ordinance. The length of suspension depends on the violation.

All are welcome to participate in our programs; however, Non-Residents are sometimes charged a slightly higher fee. In this brochure, “R” indicates a Resident fee, while “NR” indicates a Non-Resident fee.

Park District Residents are required to get a Resident Pass to receive discounted rates on programs, events, passes and rentals. To get your pass, bring a valid driver’s license or state ID and a current property tax or utility bill showing your name and address to the Community Center. Children must also obtain a pass. Behavior

Participants are expected to exhibit appropriate behavior at all times. The following guidelines have been developed to make Park District programs safe and enjoyable for all participants. • Show respect to all participants and staff

• Refrain from causing bodily harm to other participants and staff

• Show respect for equipment, supplies and facilities

Discipline

A positive approach will be used regarding discipline. The Park District of Franklin Park reserves the right to dismiss a participant. Each situation will be evaluated on its own merit.

Youth Participation Guidelines

From time to time, the Park District has had the challenge of dealing with children registered for Park District programs whose excitement level and enthusiasm were beyond the capabilities of our staff. In the event that such a child is involved in any of these programs, the staff will notify the child’s parents that they are not capable of adequately supervising such a child. The Park District will gladly refund the prorated portion of any fees. The Park District has made every effort to hire capable staff for all programs, but there are occasions when, for the good of the entire program, the Park District must insist that parents remove unmanageable children from the program. Your cooperation as a parent will be greatly appreciated, and your understanding will allow the Park District of Franklin Park to better serve all youth.

We Love Parents, but…

With your child’s best interest in mind, we ask that parents do not remain in class, or bring other children into class during any of our youth programs, unless specifically approved by the instructor. This may interrupt the participant’s attention and inhibit the establishment of peer relationships. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
