Recreations Dog Park Coming to Franklin Park By: Dan LoCascio, Executive Director Over the years, Park District staff have spoken with and listened to residents who expressed a strong desire for a local dog park. In response, we partnered with the Village of Franklin Park to research potential locations and take steps toward making this vision a reality. In January 2025, the Park District entered into an Intergovernmental Agreement with the Village of Franklin Park to lease four parcels of land located at 9621 Pacific Avenue for the purpose of managing and maintaining a dedicated dog park. By leasing, rather than purchasing the property, this collaboration between two government entities saved taxpayers an estimated $300,000. The future dog park will cover approximately 11,000 square feet and include two separate areas for small and large dogs. Planned features include water fountains, seating areas, waste stations, and dog agility equipment.
