For decades, our seasonal brochures have landed in mailboxes across Franklin Park, filled with programs, events, and opportunities that bring our community together. From swim lessons and dance recitals to family events and fitness classes, these pages have shared the story of every season at the Park District. Now, we are excited to begin a new chapter.
Starting in 2026, the Park District of Franklin Park will launch its first fully digital seasonal brochure, beginning with the Spring into Summer edition. This change is designed to make finding and registering for programs simpler, faster, and more convenient for everyone. With just a few clicks, residents will be able to browse programs, check dates, and register online from their phone, tablet, or computer.
And for those who prefer flipping through printed pages, that option is not going anywhere. We will continue to:
• Mail newsletters like this one with important updates and announcements
• Send reminder postcards when new brochures are released
• Offer printed copies for pickup at all Park District facilities
• Deliver printed copies to your home upon request
This transition is about putting our community first. By shifting to a digital first brochure, we can:
• Reinvest savings into the programs, parks, and events you love
• Provide real time updates when schedules or details change
• Offer greater convenience for residents who already explore programs or register online
As our community grows and technology continues to shape how we connect, this step helps us serve residents more efficiently and responsively while still honoring the traditions that make Franklin Park special. Our goal is simple: to meet the needs of all our residents, in whatever way they prefer to stay informed.

We kicked off 2025 by sending our staff to the IPRA State Conference in Chicago, Illinois, an incredible opportunity for professional growth and collaboration. Our full time staff returned with fresh ideas and inspiration to enhance our community programs and events.
Families and friends gathered for an Egg Hunt at James Park, where 125 attendees enjoyed an afternoon hunt for 2,000 colorful eggs, and community spirit. At North Park, we welcomed over 800 attendees and 10,000 eggs, making it a truly exciting day for all.
It was a month of victories! Our Panthers League teams dominated the Skyline Cup Tournament, with four out of six teams taking home first place. Not one, not two, but four championship wins, a proud moment for our athletes and dedicated coaches.
Spring brought new tools to help us better serve the community. Our fleet was upgraded with three new trucks, improving operations across the district and enhancing our ability to maintain 16 parks and 5 facilities efficiently. These vehicles allow our Parks Department to respond more quickly to maintenance needs, support seasonal projects, and transport materials safely and effectively.
Summer excitement arrived with the start of our camp programs and the opening of our pool. Nearly 900 campers enjoyed sunny days filled with swimming, field trips, games, and new friendships throughout the season.

Our Narwhal Swim Team made a splash this summer, placing first in four dual meets and earning first place in their division conference. Congratulations to our 31 swimmers and three coaches on an outstanding season.
Big news for the district: the Maple property, located at 2920 Maple Street, was officially acquired by the Park District, adding 0.99 acres of land to our community resources and expanding recreational opportunities for thousands of residents. Be sure to follow us on Facebook for updates as the project develops.
Improvements continued at the Ice Arena with upgrades to the locker rooms, lobby bathrooms, and skating school office. These enhancements ensure a more enjoyable experience for all our visitors.
Fall fun reached new heights at Pumpkin Fest, which saw a record breaking turnout of more than 2,000 attendees. From pumpkins and crafts to games and music, it was a true celebration of community and autumn spirit.
We took a major step toward sustainability with the installation of solar panels at the Franklin Park Ice Arena, the Centre at North Park, and the Community Center. This initiative reflects our commitment to greener, more efficient community spaces with a projected 40 to 50 percent reduction in annual energy costs.
We ended the year on a festive note with our annual Holiday Show, bringing together families and friends for a joyful evening featuring talented performers and dazzling holiday entertainment.
