PROPOSED TAX RATE AND BUDGET
City Council discussed a proposed tax rate for the FY 2026 operating budget, which is being prepared with a rate of $0.437940. Following the discussion, Council agreed to review the proposed budget during the regular meeting on August 19 and schedule an additional meeting on August 26 to adopt a tax rate.
COUNCIL APPROVES INCENTIVE AGREEMENT FOR REDEVELOPMENT OF 802 E. BROAD STREET
Council approved a resolution authorizing an expenditure and incentive agreement between Forney EDC and NRN Business Investments LLC for the redevelopment of 802 E. Broad Street. The project will include a new paved parking lot and related site improvements to support its conversion into professional office space. As required by state law, the City approved the use of EDC funds following the FEDC’s initial approval on June 12, 2025.
BACK-TO-SCHOOL SAFETY REMINDER
During his report, City Manager Charles Daniels reminded residents that Forney ISD returns to school on Wednesday, August 13. With the new school year starting, residents can expect an increased presence from Forney Police around campuses and school zones. Drivers are encouraged to follow all posted signs and observe school zone speed limits for everyone’s safety.
