t currently has over seventy people involved, ranging in age from 21 to 80. Members have a wide range of music experience, but they all share a love of music and community. People who are new to singing are welcome, and there is no audition. That being said, the choir takes its music seriously and they tackle a wide range of repertoire, from contemporary to world music and classical with multiple parts and often a cappella, so
it is challenging. The group is led by Marie van Gend and meets on Tuesdays during the term from 7 to 8pm at the Conservatorium Mid North Coast, 56 Hollingworth St, Port Macquarie. The first rehearsal for potential new members is free, and then payment can be on a casual weekly basis or by term. If you would like to know more, contact Marie van Gend at m.vangend@me.com or come along on 7 February and give it a go.

efore studying art, she studied geography - atmospheric conditions, winds, cloud formations - and this influence is evident in quite a lot of her paintings. Karen believes that “Art can put us in touch with that deep place from which life flows …” and thus nominates nature as one of her greatest inspirations. Painting urban settings and figures in the landscapes, she feels that the immediate environment was and still is her major source as an artist. Bulgin’s
process of painting and drawing are a practice of courage and faith in intuition. The play of colour, line and shape has been pursued with various art materials while experiencing many different life circumstances. Exhibition Glasshouse Gallery. Intuition: Karen Bulgin. On view 11 February - 19 March 2017. Intuition explores Bulgin’s processes of abstraction over a 28 year art career as a painter. Exhibition Opening, Friday 10 February, 6pm.
