ANTIQUE FAIR Arts and culture comes to the outliers of the Coffs Coast with artREACH, an ongoing program of live entertainment performances heading to towns and hamlets around the region. artREACH’s second instalment, Everybody Loves Lucy, a live theatre production about the enigmatic life of Lucille Ball, plays Woolgoolga Community Hall (July 4) and Lowanna Community Hall (July 5). Cinematinee brings an array of interesting films in July, including director Ken Loach’s new critically acclaimed I, Daniel Blake (July 6) and David Wenham’s new film Beyond The Known World (July 27). The Jetty Memorial Theatre will also be home to the new SWIFF Film Club, meeting on the first Thursday each month for members-only screenings. Tickets are also now on sale for the 2017 Melbourne International Comedy Festival Roadshow (July 1) and the Melbourne Ballet presenting their new touring program, Empyrean (July 9). It’s glittery. Quota has been a dynamic force in the volunteering community since 1962 as part of a worldwide network of service and friendship, and following their motto, “We Share”, members assist deaf, hard of hearing, speech impaired individuals and disadvantaged women and children. Members of clubs are encouraged to grow personally by helping others and making friends along the way. Projects include Christmas wrapping at Park Beach Plaza, Shearwater Lodge morning teas on a roster basis, Mother’s Day posies, supporting a Deaf Camp, school awards and aiding anti-bullying programmes at secondary schools, local Australia Day Awards nominees and SCU and Eisteddfod scholarships. Every year approximately 17 dealers from New South Wales and interstate set up shop in the Exhibition Hall, Coffs Harbour Showground for two days on the last weekend in August. How many have you attended? Antiques and collectables of many different specialities will be on sale, with $50 voucher draws for buyers ... Cost $5, children under 12 free. Wheelchair friendly!
