Between the team members there is somebody who is able to create whatever you desire: small or large, simple or extremely complex pieces of art for you to wear with pride and confidence. You can find us on Facebook or on our website, give us a call, or just come on down to meet the team: Arm, Meg, Clancy, Craig, Navs, Krys, Shae and Bobbie. Let us create your vision of art and project your imagination onto your body. Arm, the sole trader/owner of Coat of Arms has been inspired by tattoos since he was 15 and has been a tattoo artist for 34 years. He’s had much involvement within the movement in Australia in that time, putting on tattoo shows and judging at many conventions; he has watched the industry grow and shape to where it is today. He specialises and enjoys doing many different styles of tattooing and is proud of every tattoo he has done. Arm finds inspiration in some of the reasons people get their tattoos. Meg has been tattooing for 19 years and loves assisting people to realise their artistic visions, with clients who seek to express their creative ideas through their unique body art.
She enjoys doing black and grey, intricate, fine line work and portraits. Meg encourages incorporating people’s own sketches, symbolism and sentimentality, to ensure people’s tattoos are significant bookmarks of a time in their life when they either experienced a pivotal shift, an emotional closure, triumph or a moment of great courage and self-conviction. Clancy has been working at Coat of Arms tattoo studio for 7 years. He started there primarily as a body piercer, and also managed the store for a few years, completed his tattoo apprenticeship and for the last three years has been professionally tattooing. Clancy is practised in all types of body piercing and also does magnetic implants, silicone implants, scarification, banding, dermals, microdermals, flesh beadin and pretty much any type of piercing you can think of. He loves doing script type pieces, as well as tribal and symbol type work. Body piercing and tattooing are a way of life for Clancy, and he can see himself doing this type of work and being in this industry for a very long time to
come. Art has been a part of Krys’ life since she was very young. From pencil on paper, to acrylics and finally oil on canvas, art has always been, not a way of expressing herself, but an essential part of her being that she has never been without. In previous years Krys has exhibited her artwork, held her own solo exhibition and has been published in Wellbeing Astrolog 2003 with 14 of her oil paintings. Becoming a tattooist was a happy accident. It was not an industry that she had any experience or knowledge in; it just seemed to be an extension of the creativity that Krys already had. Areas of interest for Krys as a tattooist are an extension of her own art-mythic-spiritual, Hindu and Buddhist inspired artwork, figurative and fantasy. Craig has been in the tattoo industry since 1991 and has worked from Tasmania to North Queensland developing his skills as a tattooist. Since joining the crew at Coat of Arms just over four years ago, he has concentrated his efforts on learning the more artistic side of tattooing,
with a more freehand approach to the art. Craig specialises in the big, bold pieces with an emphasis on dark and light contrast and bright, rich colours and puts a great deal of effort into making his tattoos as realistic as possible. Navz has been tattooing for over 10 years now and it’s taken him all round Australia, but he’s currently at Coat of Arms Tattoo Studio. He enjoys and has practised most aspects of the art form, from black and grey and colour to scarification. Navz loves the stories and ideas that walk through the door; tattooing is an odd and beautiful art form, more extravagant than the most expensive jewellery, can’t be lost, borrowed or stolen; tattoos an be whatever you want them to be. So come and see us at Coat of Arms Tattoo Studio, where there’s a combined 100 years’ tattoo experience and all tattooists are members of the Professional Tattoo Association of Australia (PTAA), we’re health department approved and open 7 days (and nights if you wish) by appointment.
