Thank you for coming to the theatre today to enjoy a live performance. We’ve been waiting for you.
For weeks leading up to this moment – just before the lights dim – we’ve worked tirelessly to craft every moment just for you: every laugh, every musical number, every heated debate or outrageous situation the characters must navigate. From the painted scenery to the stitches on a dress, our artists and technicians have considered every detail in service of telling this story – for you.
Theatre is a collective experience, and our process isn’t complete until you take your seat. As the play begins, remember that the performance you’re about to see is a one-of-a-kind experience, and no matter how much we rehearse, the performance will never be exactly the same as the one you’ll see today. The magic of theatre is in the conversations it starts, the emotions it stirs, and in the memories you make by being here today.
Each season, Florida Rep strives to showcase a wide variety of thrilling, moving, and delightful stories – and our 28th promises that and more. This season, you’ll enjoy Pulitzer and Tony-winning dramas, iconic music that defined the 20th century, a man-eating plant, two new comedies, and a play that goes deliciously wrong!
Whether this is your first visit or your one hundred first, we are so happy you’re here to experience the magic of theatre with us, make memories with us, and to share in the collective joy of seeing a play performed live – just for you. We hope you’ll join us for all the music, laughter, and humanity in store for you this season.
Thank you for choosing live theatre.
Greg Longenhagen Producing Artistic Director
On behalf of the Board of Directors, I am honored to welcome you to our 28th season. And what a wonderful season it is—with something for everyone.
Florida Rep is an integral part of downtown Fort Myers, producing live professional theatre to diverse patrons from all over Southwest Florida. This year you will recognize many of our actors and directors from previous shows.
We also have a very active educational program, consisting of summer camps, our Theater for Young Audiences, which brings the arts to life for thousands of Lee County students each year, and a Conservatory program for more advanced students.
Every May, our PlayLab Festival invites playwrights from all over the country to submit their new offerings to be presented as developmental readings. A few of these plays have had their world premieres right here on our stages.
We want to thank you all for your generous and continuing support. The past few years have challenged us with the pandemic as well as the devastation of Hurricanes Ian, Milton and Helene. In these challenging financial times, organized financial support has been difficult. Tickets sales alone cannot sustain us. So please consider donating today if you are able. Your contribution helps secure the future of Florida Rep so it may continue to be a vibrant part of the cultural landscape of Southwest Florida.
Most importantly, we invite you to sit back and enjoy the show.
Janice Danzig, Chairperson Board of Directors
It’s a true pleasure to welcome you to another season of theatre here in our city. There’s something special about gathering for live theatre. It’s a chance to step away from the everyday, and experience something real — together. That’s what makes nights like this so important.
Here in the City of Palms, we believe in the power of community. Our local arts scene does more than bring joy — it strengthens our economy, connects our community, and keeps our shared stories alive. Theatre reflects who we are and what we value. Every performance represents countless hours of dedication, creativity, and collaboration — not only on stage, but behind the scenes and throughout our neighborhoods.
Last year, I was thrilled to trod the boards as dead Uncle Tony, in Florida Rep’s Lucky Stiff! It turns out the view from the stage is hilariously different! It gave me a whole new appreciation for the talent and team work behind every performance. In fact, it was so fun, I took a final bow on closing night!
When we support the arts, we’re also supporting local businesses, jobs, education, and civic pride. Your support makes this all possible. When you buy a ticket, when you show up and applaud, when you bring your family or tell a friend — you are part of what makes our city alive. Thank you for keeping the spirit of live performance strong in our community.
I’m glad you’re here. Enjoy the show.
Kevin B. Anderson
Mayor

It is a true honor to greet you as we kick off another season at Florida Repertory Theatre. As your State Senator, I’m reminded of how essential spaces like this are—not just to our cultural landscape, but to the vitality of our community. For nearly three decades, Florida Repertory Theatre has had a powerful impact on both our cultural life and the hearts of all who walk through its doors.
This season promises to be a memorable one. The creative energy that flows through these walls is a testament to the team of artists and staff who work tirelessly to bring these stories to life.
While the mainstage performances are the heart of the season, I’d also like to recognize the Theatre’s dedication to reaching young audiences. Through engaging programs and performances tailored for younger viewers, the Theatre is fostering a love for the arts and inspiring the next generation of theatre-goers. This important work enriches our entire community and ensures that the arts remain an integral part of our shared future.
Thank you for making Florida Repertory Theatre a part of your life. Whether you’re a first-time visitor or a long-time patron, your role in the continued success of this institution is invaluable. Let’s make this 28th season one that celebrates the power of the arts and the connections they foster in all of us.
Warm regards,
Senator

Dear Friends of Florida Rep,
It is with great pleasure and enthusiasm that I welcome you to Florida Rep’s 28th season. As a member of the City Council, I could not be more proud of the remarkable cultural institutions that call our city home, and Florida Rep stands at the forefront of these efforts. For 27 seasons, this theatre has delivered exceptional performances that not only entertain but also inspire, engage, and elevate us all.
In a world that is constantly evolving, theatre has a unique ability to transport us to new places, broaden our perspectives, and help us better understand one another. Our theaters and creative spaces are not just places of entertainment, but pillars of our community’s identity.
It is because of you, the audience, that we are able to continue nurturing this cultural backbone of the city, and for that, I thank you for your continued support. I look forward to seeing many more of you in the seats, supporting not just the actors and performers, but also the spirit of creativity and community that makes our city truly special.
Warm regards,
Liston D. Bochette III Ward 4 Fort Myers City Council
DOUBT: A PARABLE is on stage
OCT 28 –NOV 1, 2025
Eighteen years ago, as part of our 10th anniversary season, Florida Rep proudly produced the Southwest Florida premiere of the Pulitzer Prize-winning and Tony Best Playwinning drama, Doubt: A Parable, by John Patrick Shanley. At the time, the theatre critic for the News-Press wrote, “Doubt is a thinking person’s play – no doubt about that… It’s also a lively piece of theatre with very human performances and finely tuned dramatic pacing. If you think local theatres produce nothing but dusty comedies and musicals, you’re in for a surprise at Florida Rep.”
Today, Doubt is as timely as ever, regardless of being set in 1964 against the backdrop of a Catholic school. The play explores the complexities of doubt, faith, and the nature of truth through a conflict between a nun and a priest. Sister Aloysius suspects Father Flynn of inappropriate behavior towards a student. The nun is strict and traditional, while the priest is modern and potentially progressive. Doubt takes audiences on a gripping, electrifying 80-minute ride in a quest for truth. Florida Rep’s Season 28 production takes a fresh approach and features actors Denise Cormier, Matt Lytle, Taylor Reister, and Alia Shakira.
Shanley is a legendary playwright, director, and filmmaker. His many plays include Outside Mullingar, Women of Manhattan, Italian American Reconciliation, and more. He is also well known for his films Moonstruck, Joe Versus the Volcano, and the film version of Doubt starring Philip Seymour Hoffman, Viola Davis, Amy Adams, and Meryl Streep - who won an Oscar for her portrayal of Sister Aloysius.
THE TRIAL OF EBENEZER SCROOGE is on stage DEC 2-21, 2025
Florida Rep and Ebenezer Scrooge go back a long way. In 2023, we brought you the regional premiere of A Sherlock Carol by Mark Shanahan, in 2018, A Christmas Carol: The Tale of Ebenezer Scrooge, adapted by Mark Shanahan, and in 2000, the comedy, Inspecting Carol by Daniel Sullivan. This season, we’re delighted to bring The Trial of Ebenezer Scrooge, a holiday comedy by Mark Brown, to the Historic Arcade stage. Mark’s hit plays and Florida Rep also go all the way back to our 17th season when Around the World in 80 Days played to sold-out audiences here in the Historic Arcade.
Brown sets up Trial as a sequel to A Christmas Carol, taking place a year after the classic story’s happy ending. Here we discover Mr. Scrooge’s famous change of heart has faded, and he’s ready to sue Jacob Marley and the Ghosts for a variety of crimes – including breaking and entering, kidnapping, slander, pain and suffering, and the intentional infliction of emotional distress. You might presume that the story is a serious, cantankerous courtroom drama, but the happy twist is a comedic approach that unleashes a delightful and zany series of courtroom events filled with both laughs and heart.
Ensemble member William McNulty, seen here as Scrooge in A SHERLOCK CAROL, returns to play the classic character this season. (Also pictured, Chrissy Albanese)
Florida Rep’s Producing Artistic Director, Greg Longenhagen, directs The Trial of Ebenezer Scrooge. Greg, an accomplished actor with Florida Rep since its inception in 1998, is no stranger to the classic, having appeared in A Christmas Carol, Inspecting Carol, and Brown’s Around The World in 80 Days.
ADVICE is on stage DEC 9, 2025-JAN 11, 2026
Since its inception, Florida Rep has committed to presenting new works and Southwest Florida premieres. As a member of the National New Play Network, Florida Rep produced two Rolling World Premieres, Alabaster by Audrey Cefaly and Doublewide by Stephen Spotswood, and this season, will stage our third, Advice by Brent Askari. Brent’s play White Party was workshopped during our (virtual) 2020 PlayLab Festival.
Funny man Patrick Richwood, shown here in last season’s production of LUCKY STIFF returns to play affable friend, Gary, in ADVICE.
Askari, a Persian American writer and actor, is the recipient of several awards including the NNPN Smith Award, the Berkshire Theater Critics Award, and is a winner of the Neil Simon Festival’s National New Play Contest and B Street Theatre’s Comedy Festival.
Advice is a laugh-out-loud comedy that reminds us how we all have that “one friend” who tests the boundaries of friendship – and in this story, it’s Ron and Joy’s annoying screw-up friend, Gary. When their ne’er do well friend somehow manages to get a selfhelp book published, the couple – who lead successful lives - try to convince their friend not to quit his day job to pursue his dream of becoming a life coach. Gary is undaunted and decides to try his relationship exercises on Ron and Joy.
The couple play along to hilarious results that lead to some outrageous revelations. Advice is razor-sharp comedy and guarantees to take you on a comedic rollercoaster.

In the early 1960s, three friends—Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, and Sammy Davis Jr.—turned Las Vegas into their playground. What began as casual guest spots in each other’s nightclub acts quickly grew into a phenomenon during the filming of Ocean’s 11 in 1960. Their chemistry was undeniable: Frank’s smooth swagger, Dean’s laid-back charm, and Sammy’s boundless energy created a mix of music, comedy, and camaraderie unlike anything audiences had ever seen. Soon, the trio became the centerpiece of what the world would call The Rat Pack. With their sharp suits, quick wit, and swingin’ sound, they didn’t just perform shows—they created an era of entertainment that defined “cool” for generations.

ARE
& GRATEFUL
TO BE A
Supporting our nonprofit regional theatre is vital for fostering local culture, nurturing emerging talent, and providing our community with affordable access to diverse artistic experiences. Florida Repertory Theatre enriches our community’s cultural fabric, stimulates the local economy, and advances arts education programs, ensuring the arts remain accessible and vibrant for all. When you purchase a ticket, a subscription package, or donate to Florida Rep, you become part of our community’s cultural fabric. Thank you for supporting our professional, live theatre!
We salute our supporting stars, our volunteer brigade, the Scene Stealers!
