Vintage 2022 was an outstanding Sicilian vintage. A cold, dry winter followed by a hot, sun-filled summer set the stage for plump, healthy grapes. Our Nerello Capuccio and Nerello Mascalese are grown organically in limestone-rich, dry-farmed vineyards. They were harvested in early September, capturing a perfect balance of ripe fruit flavors and natural acidity.

Region Like the rest of Italy, Sicily boasts a wealth of indigenous grape varieties. Native Nerello Cappuccio and Nerello Mascalese thrive in vineyards throughout the island, soaking up the Mediterranean sun. These grapes star in many of Sicily’s unique regional specialties, including flavorful single-varietal wines and multi-dimensional blends.

Tasting notes Our blend captivates the senses with decadent layers of oak and spice. Each swirl introduces you to lavender potpourri and cinnamon aromas with subtle, fruity hints of acai and mulberry. The palate unveils textured tannins and acidity, providing structure before each sip finishes with the comforting warmth of baking spice and mince pie notes.

Pairing logic Italy is home to the most food-friendly wines, and our blend is no exception. The best pairings are inspired by Italian home cooking featuring meaty red sauces, nutty, aged cheeses and rustic spices. The wine’s tannins will break down hearty proteins and chewy starches—like homemade gnocchi bolognese. Do as the Italians do and top everything with a generous drizzle of olive oil to harmonize the wine’s acidity and emphasize its fruit.

Menu suggestions • Sicilian fried risotto • Eggplant parmesan • Potato croquettes • Sicilian-style pan pizza • Gnocchi with beef Bolognese • Beef braciola with tomato sauce

Serving instructions Temperature: Room temperature (60–65°F) Decanting time: 30 minutes Glassware: Bordeaux glass

Winemaking After magnificent weather allowed harvest to sail smoothly, the grapes needed minimal sorting. Native yeast is used to ferment the wine in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures. After careful blending, the final wine showcases 70 percent Nerello Cappuccio and 30 percent Nerello Mascalese, marrying Cappuccio’s aromatics and acidity with Mascalese’s structure and fruit.

Spotlight Cellar • Native yeast ferments wine slowly, increasing complexity

• Blending wine involves carefully selecting varieties for desired flavors and structural characteristics

Vineyard • Limestone soils retain water, keeping vines refreshed in dry weather • Dry farming increases vine resilience and enhances grape’s flavor concentration.
