There is no way to adequately thank you for your loving support for Roxann and our family in the loss of her mother, June Nobles. It is still a bit surreal to see this in print, even as it was to return to the cemetery six months after we were there to say goodbye to her dad. They were married 72 years and separated for only six months. I know they were both so glad to see each other in heaven.
These two people have been poster children for people of faith. They loved the Lord, were faithful to worship and church, always tithed what they had, always offered themselves in service, and always thanked the Lord for the blessings that were in their lives. They raised their children in that environment, and I have seen the product of it in Roxann’s life. She refused to cut corners, give up hope, or become frustrated with God, even as she saw all her mother went through over the past months. We found the medical community in Columbus to be absolutely amazing and responsive to our needs. When what she had required attention in Atlanta, the community here helped make that happen. When June’s condition required hospice care, we were able to bring her home. How grateful we are for all the available care and support here.
We could not have dealt with this without you, our Church Family. You have offered grace and love, prayers and support, encouragement and a kind shoulder for us through all of this. You have been where we needed you and have offered us the opportunity to decompress when we needed that. Roxann and I are looking forward to being back with our Church Family in a couple of days. This experience in our lives is one we have never faced before now.
A number of years ago, I was speaking with a minister friend who was terminally ill and was enduring a great deal. I asked him about how he was doing. He said, with great delight and faith, I am doing fine. All of this faith counsel I have been giving others throughout the years really is true. I always knew it and believed it, but now I have experienced it and found God to be just as faithful as I have said. Roxann and I echo the sentiment. You are the love and care we always knew you to be. God is faithful as we knew Him to be, and through this as we needed Him to be.
The most beautiful moment occurred in the last hours of June’s life. Roxann had stayed with her throughout all the waking hours (almost) for the last four weeks June lived. She did everything her mother needed her to do to keep her clean, comfortable, and loved. She kept the family members informed and kept her mother aware of their love. She connected her with the family through calls and FaceTime throughout the ordeal. I went out to be with Roxann on the afternoon June died. We were sitting there with her; and Roxann and I watched as her breathing changed. Roxann took her hand, I stood beside her, June peacefully took her last breath. Roxann said, in that moment, that I held her, she held one of her mother’s hands, and her dad held the other. She handed her mother over to her dad and the Lord. To God be the glory for a beautiful home-going for a faithful servant of the Lord.
I want to say thank you. You gave John and June Nobles a loving Church Family for the last four years of their lives. You made them feel they had always been here. You were to them what you are to anyone who comes and receives your grace. We were blessed to have that grace visit our hearts and lives. May God bless you. There is much more to do together. Next Sunday is a special time; and it will have even more meaning because we have been ministered to by you.
Your Pastor, Jimmy

CHILDREN’S MINISTRY
(pthompson@firstbaptistcolumbusga.com)
We often think about respect in terms of vertical relationships we have with others respect for parents, teachers, and people in authority. Equally important are the more horizontal relationships we have with people, like siblings, friends, and even people we may not get along with. The idea of valuing others and mutually respecting them is scriptural and is a necessary way to communicate with others and demonstrate God’s love. All people have value because we are created in God’s image. God wants a relationship with us and sent Jesus to make that possible. Let’s value others as God values them and us.

YOUTH MINISTRY
(dpotter@firstbaptistcolumbusga.com)
We need your help! It's time for our annual Souper Bowl of Caring. For those unfamiliar, the Souper Bowl is a mission opportunity in which the youth help collect food and cash donations to support our FBC Food Closet. Will you help us stock the shelves and make a larger impact in the great community of Columbus? This is one of the youth family's favorite service opportunities, because we help collect donations and later we will help pack the bags that are given by our Food Closet. Last year we raised $1800 and collected 75 items. Think we can top it this year? Thank you in advance for your support!
MISSIONS MINISTRY

Kindness can be found around every corner in our world; one simply needs to know where to look. But what about for those who cannot see? Please donate your old, used prescription glasses, reading glasses, or even non-prescription sunglasses as the Zimbabwe mission team will engage in an act of kindness to help those in Zimbabwe see the beautiful things life has to offer. You can drop your glasses off in the First Baptist office lobby in the box marked EyeGlasses for Zimbabwe . Inkosi ikubsise! (God bless you!)

MUSIC MINISTRY

We are blessed to have the leadership of Ruslan Apostolov as our Director of the Koart Academy of Music. He has some very gifted instructors; and here is a report about some of the talented students.
We have completed another season of great success for students in the Koart Academy of Music in the annual All-State Orchestra auditions in Atlanta. Thirteen of our very talented and hard-working students won the audition after two very challenging rounds, competing with young musicians from the entire state of Georgia. This might be the highest number of students to successfully pass the audition from the entire city of Columbus so far. We are very proud of them! Special gratitude to our loving church family for your support. Here at First Baptist, young talents have the best foundation to develop and blossom!
CITY MINISTRY
(secondstoryfbc@gmail.com) [Nico Moyer]
We have had an amazing few weeks at Second Story! Our students have returned and our “Welcome Back Reclaimed” worship was a major blessing. Together, we joined our hearts in worship and fellowship, began building new relationships, and rekindled old connections. Our student leaders have done an amazing job leading with love, and have worked tirelessly to create intimate and intentional connections on and off campus. This week the love and kindness continue as we begin women’s and men’s Life Groups which allow for more intimate connections and fellowship with one another and the Word!
