ortland is located in a beautiful natural setting at the intersection of seven valleys, midway between Syracuse and Binghamton on Route I-81. Just a short walk from the State University of New York (SUNY Cortland), Cortland’s downtown business district retains its Victorian heritage. Stroll shops and cafés along Main Street.

Cortland Attractions 1890 House & Center for Victorian Arts

37 Tompkins St., Cortland 607-756-7551; the1890house.org Built at the height of the “Gilded Age,” the 1890s House 30-room mansion features jewel-like stained glass, ornate decorative stencils, and impressive oak and cherry woodwork. Collections found throughout offer visitors the opportunity to step back to 19th century Cortland. Hours: Call ahead for schedule, pricing, COVID protocols and to book a visit.

Central New York Living History Center

4386 US Route 11, Cortland 607-299-4185; cnylivinghistory.org Discover different museums in one location. One houses military artifacts from the Civil War all the way up to the Gulf War. Another plays host to old farm tractors and includes a replica of an old country kitchen. The last is dedicated to Brockway Trucks, manufactured in Cortland until 1977. Hours: 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Thurs.-Sat. (Last admission at 4 p.m.), plus 1 – 5 p.m. on Sun., Memorial Day – Labor Day.

Admission: $10 (Adults); $9 (Seniors); Children 5 & younger (Free). Admission covers all 3 museums.

Cortland Country Music Park
