ELIOT

Preparing Students for the Wider World

Finegold Alexander is working closely with the City of Cranston on the design of the new Gladstone Elementary School. With an enrollment of 798 students serving grades K- through 5, the new facility will serve an important student population the Cranston community.

Smart Design Moves:

SUSTAINABILITY

The design team is leveraging the existing site topography to create a compact, energy efficient building footprint, with an emphasis on natural daylighting and views.

EDUCATIONAL VISION

The innovative building design features six distinct Learning Communities, each with flexible spaces to accommodate a range of learning styles.

LEARNING BEYOND THE CLASSROOM

Outdoor activities are encouraged with three outdoor learning areas, multiple playgrounds, and a community garden.

ELIOT INNOVATION SCHOOL

The Eliot Innovation School serves grades 5-8, and is part of a three-building campus in Boston’s North End. The project involved the visioning, programming and full design for the major adaptive reuse of a former office building into a contemporary school facility.

As part of our project management, sustainability reviews are integrated with quality assurance at key phases of the project design and development. Our Director of Sustainability, Principal Rebecca L. Berry, leads these reviews.
