Uma das grandes novidades de 2008, o Panorama ganhou uma sede este ano que funciona no histórico galpão do instituto dos Arquitetos do Brasil (iAB), em conjunto com o Oi Futuro. Usando o nome original do espaço, que abrigava as máquinas que geravam a energia para o funcionamento dos bondes, a Sala das Machinas recebe uma programação de espetáculos (leia na programação principal), debates, oficinas, aulas abertas e outras surpresinhas, além de abrigar a videoteca do festival e de servir de ponto de encontro para os artistas. A poucos passos dali, o moderno prédio do Oi Futuro recebe exposição de fotos do italiano Manuel Vason e exibe vídeo da performer espanhola La Ribot. O artista Sergio Ulhõa ocupa o iAB e o Oi Futuro com vídeo-instalações. • A programação musical da Sala das Machinas tem o apoio do Consulado Geral da França no Rio de Janeiro.
one of the biggest news in Panorama 2008 is that the festival has headquarters this year, the historical building of Instituto dos Arquitetos do Brasil (IAB) and oi Futuro. Using the original name of the space that used to hold the machines that generated energy for streetcars, the Machine Room will host a program of shows (read about in the main program), debates, workshops, open classes and other little surprises, besides holding the video library of the festival and being the meeting point of the artists. A few steps away, the modern oi Futuro building holds a photo exhibition by Italian artist Manuel Vason and a video exhibition of Spanish performer La Ribot.
