Little humans come with a LOT of stuff and can somehow take over your entire house. In an effort to be prepared and to keep things tidy, here are 7 organizational tips to help you set up your nursery room (and other areas in the house) to welcome your new baby.

2. Use drawer organizers inside your drawers (order from Amazon or find them at a dollar store inexpensively) and file fold all the items so that you can see them all at once for easy access. Don’t have enough drawer space? Use an inexpensive over-the-door shoe holder to hold burp cloths, sheets, towels, blankets and other essentials.

8 September 2022| PB Parenting |

1. Pre-wash all the baby clothes, sheets, and burp cloths in unscented laundry detergent, then sort by size and type and arrange in drawers and in the closet. Some categories may include: socks, hats, and mittens, pajamas, onesies, swaddles and sleep sacks, burp cloths, etc. If you don’t have space for all the sizes you have on hand, use plastic bins or vacuum seal bags for each size, except for the size you expect your baby to wear when they are born. Label each bin or bag with the size and store it for later.

3. Set up a health and wellness drawer or area in your nursery with all the baby care essentials including nail clippers and file, thermometer, Mylicon drops for gas, bulb syringe for the nose, infant Tylenol, diaper rash cream, Vaseline 4.etc.Establish a baby feeding station with a comfy chair or glider and a small side table in the 7 organizational tips to help you set up your nursery room

5. Think about where you will be bathing your baby and set up that area with your bath tub, baby wash, washcloths, towels. This does NOT have to be in a bathroom—think outside the box, especially if you have limited space.

6. Create a rolling cart as a mobile baby station with the essentials to take with you from room to room in your house. Fill it with items like: diapers, wipes, hand sanitizer, burp cloths, diaper rash cream.

nursery. Here’s where you can place smaller items like your coffee, water, and other bottle feeding/nursing necessities. Keep a few extra burping cloths nearby as well for the spit up that was bound to happen. This is also a great place to put a basket of books to read to your baby in-between feedings.

7. Clear one shelf or drawer in your kitchen for baby items to store bottles, cups, dishes etc.

The arrival of a new baby can bring many changes to a family. Parents spend a lot of energy on preparations, and after the baby arrives, much of the family’s attention involves caring for the Allnewborn.thischange can be hard for older siblings to handle. It’s common for them to feel jealousy toward the newborn and to react to the upheaval by acting out. But parents can prepare kids for an addition to the family. Discussing the pregnancy in terms that make sense to kids, making some arrangements, and including kids in the care of the newborn can make things easier for everyone. During Pregnancy To tell a child about an impending sibling, consider your own comfort level and your child’s maturity level. Preschoolers, for example, may not grasp concepts of time, so it might not mean much if you say that the baby will arrive in a few months. It may be more useful to explain that the baby will arrive in a particular season, such as winter or when it’s cold outside. How much detail should you provide? Let your child’s questions be your guide. For example, a 4-year-old child may ask: “Where do babies come from?” Despite how it sounds, the child isn’t asking you to explain sex but probably wants to know where, literally, they come from. It may be enough to explain: “The baby comes from the uterus, which is inside the mother’s belly.” A child who wants to know more will ask.

to expect when the day arrives. Consider letting your child visit you in the hospital as soon as possible after the baby is born, ideally when no other visitors are around — this helps reinforce the birth as an intimate family Tryevent.tokeep routines as regular as possible in the days and weeks around the baby’s arrival. If you plan to make any room shifts to accommodate the baby, do it a few weeks before your due date.

If your child is approaching a major milestone, like potty training or moving from a crib to a bed, try to make those changes well before your due date or put them off until after the baby has been home for a while.

If your child expresses no interest in the baby, don’t be alarmed and don’t force it. It can take Sometime. occasions, like breastfeeding, excludes older kids. For these times, try to have toys on hand so that you can feed the baby without being interrupted or worrying about an older child feeling left out. Take advantage of chances for one-on-one time with older kids. Spend time together while the baby is sleeping and, if possible, set aside

Once the baby is home, you can help your other kids adjust to the changes. Include them as much as possible in the daily activities involving the baby so that they don’t feel left out. Many kids want to help take care of a new baby. Though that “help” may mean that each task takes longer, it can give an older child a chance to interact with the baby in a positive way. Depending on their age, a big brother or sister may want to entertain the baby during a diaper change, help push the carriage, talk to the baby, or help dress, bathe, or burp the baby.

During your child’s first five years, nurturing the development of compassion, independence and resilience is just as crucial as setting the stage for reading and math. That’s why our Balanced Learning® approach combines character development with play and academics to give children a strong, well-rounded foundation for learning and life. We know how big their little hearts can be.

With all of the changes that a new baby can bring, some older kids might struggle as they try to Encourageadjust. older kids to talk about their feelings about the new baby. If a child cannot express those feelings, don’t be surprised if he or she tests limits or reverts to speaking in baby talk.

time each day for older kids to get one parent’s undivided attention. Knowing that there’s special time just for them may help ease any resentment or anger about the new baby. Also remind relatives and friends that your older child might want to talk about something other than the new baby. If relatives or friends ask how they can help, suggest a fun activity or something special for the older child. Continue to send your older child to childcare or to school, if you’re able. It’s normal to feel guilty about sending your older child away since now you’re home with the new baby (and if you’re home, you might feel that everyone should be). But keeping normal routines is helpful for siblings. And this time can give you precious one-on-one time with the baby that you might not otherwise have. When your older child comes home from childcare or school, plan for some quality family time.

If your child acts up, don’t bend the rules, but understand what feelings may be motivating that behavior. It could be a sign that your child needs more one-on-one time with you, but make it clear that although his or her feelings are important, they have to be expressed in appropriate ways.

Playing chess is known to increase IQ, promote critical thinking, and teach core math and verbal skills. It also helps kids retain information, improve test scores, solve problems, remain calm under pressure, and perform well in school.

Chess is also one of the most beneficial games you can teach a child, fostering critical developmental skills and instilling important life-long lessons. If you’ve been thinking about getting in on the craze and introducing chess to your child (or even learning how to play together) here are five reasons why you should totally do it: Chess exercises both sides of the brain. In a game of chess, the left analytical side of the brain looks for the next logical move, while the right creative side seeks out patterns and new possibilities. Easy ways to stretch your grocery budget, like using versatile ingredients, can make the checkout experience a little less impactful on your household’s finances. Consider the benefits of mushrooms, which provide a delicious option to enhance flavor in favorite recipes while extending portions in an affordable way.

Save Money - Stretch your dollars by stretching your meals using a process called “The Blend.”

Blending finely chopped mushrooms with ground meat can extend portion sizes of your favorite meaty recipes and help your bottom line. Chop your favorite mushroom variety to match the consistency of ground meat, blend the chopped mushrooms and meat together then cook to complete the recipe. For burgers, use a blend of 25% finely chopped mushrooms and 75% ground meat. For tacos or chili, use 50% mushrooms and 50% meat or an even higher mushroom-to-meat ratio.

Savor the Flavor- The savory umami taste of mushrooms means a flavorful experience in blended recipes like burgers, where the chopped mushrooms help hold in the juiciness. Or, you can chop, quarter, slice or enjoy them whole in recipes like Garlic-Rosemary Butter Roasted Chicken

Thighs and Veggies with Mushroom Orzo Risotto, Creamy Spinach, Mushroom and Lasagna Soup or Blended Pasta Sauce paired with your favorite pasta.

In today’s world, grocery shopping can seem more like a burden than an opportunity to gather supplies for your family’s favorite meals. With prices of everyday ingredients fluctuating almost daily, it’s important for many families to make their dollars go further at the store.
