COMPANION ANIMAL REGISTRATION REMINDER

Council has recently reviewed the NSW Companion Animals Register which includes the details of microchipped cats and dogs residing in the Federation Council area.

This review has found there are companion animals that are yet to be registered with Council as legally required. Under NSW law, dogs must be registered by six months of age and cats by four months of age.

As part of Council’s Companion Animals Compliance Program, reminder letters are being issued to residents where this applies. Our furry friends are so important in our lives and at Council, there is no better joy for our rangers to be able to return your pet home safely, however, if your pet is not registered they may not know where to return them to.

Registration can be completed online via the NSW Pet Registry petregistry.olg.nsw.gov.au/owners/register-a-pet or at any Council office during business hours.

COMMUNITY SATISFACTION SURVEY

Federation Council is undertaking its annual independent Community Satisfaction Survey during October!

The goal? To find out how satisfied you are with Council services, what service areas and facilities are most important to you, and what the community’s future needs are. Your feedback will guide our priorities.

Micromex Research will be contacting the 200 participants from last year’s survey on behalf of Council. Micromex is a professional market and community research company.

We look forward to reporting the findings of the survey to the community.

DEVELOPMENT CONSENTS

Public notice is given pursuant to Section 101 of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act, 1979, that the Council has granted development consent in respect of the following developments. The consents are available for public inspection by contacting Council during business hours.

10.2025.64.1 Jude Street, HOWLONG 41 Lot Subdivision 10.2025.56.1 18 Lone Pine Ave, COROWA Dwelling 10 2025 128 1 3 Thiess Road. COROWA Roof over Wash Bay

Federation Council advises that there are significant delays to all applications being lodged for each stage of the development process. Staff shortages, in conjunction with the increasing complexity of the NSW Planning Portal Processes required to be undertaken by Council has seen pre-lodgement assessment times increasing to 6-8 weeks and average determination times taking between 10-12 weeks. We ask you for your cooperation as Council officers concentrate on clearing the backlog of applications while maintaining all other legislated services.

Impacted residents will be advised in writing with specific details. Water may be temporarily unavailable for short periods during the cleaning process. Residents may experience short periods of dirty or discolored water immediately after the cleaning is completed. This is normal and temporary.

CELEBRATE AGEING, CHALLENGE AGEISM

Members of the Federation Ageing Well Committee are launching their Challenge Ageism, Celebrate Ageing campaign to raise awareness about ageism.

Starting on Thursday 9 October, Australia’s Ageism Awareness Day, the committee with support from Federation Council is rolling out their online campaign as a reminder to all that ageism is still rife within the Australian community. Ageism has a direct adverse impact on the lives of many people in such areas as aged care, provision of health services and employment and is a contributing factor to elder abuse.

The Federation Ageing Well Committee challenges you, no matter what your age, to recognise all people are different, and at different stages of their lives, and to try and avoid generalisation.
