FINANCIAL STATEMENTS

For the year ended 30 June 2025

As per Section 418 (3) of the Local Government Act.

In accordance with Section 418(3) of the Local Government Act 1993 (NSW), Federation Council advises that the February Council meeting will include the presentation of the audited Financial Statements and the Auditor’s Reports for the year ending 30 June 2025. A summary of the Financial Statements is provided below.

DEVELOPMENT CONSENTS

Public notice is given pursuant to Section 101 of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act, 1979, that the Council has granted development consent in respect of the following developments. The consents are available for public inspection by contacting Council during business hours.

Author Talk TL Oakman

Federation Council Libraries invite you to an exclusive Author Talk with T.L. Oakman, the mastermind behind the gripping new release, ‘Run Till You Can’t. Federation Council invites parents and carers to Storytime sessions at the Corowa, Howlong and Mulwala Libraries.

• Mulwala - 1st Wednesday of the month, 10:30am

• Corowa - Every Friday, 10:30am

• Howlong - 1st Friday, 10:30am

• Children and their parents/carers can participate in FREE story time sessions that involve sharing stories, rhymes and themed activities. Storytime sessions are suitable for ages 0-5 years and run for 30-45 minutes. Join in the fun, meet new people, introduce your child to a world of books and lay the foundation for a lifelong love of reading.

LIVE LIFE IN COLOUR: THE 2026 FEDERATION AGEING WELL FESTIVAL

Council invites our fabulous older residents to celebrate the journey and the adventures to come at the 2026 Federation Ageing Well Festival. A bumper mix of events running throughout March across the Council area. Part of the state-wide NSW Seniors Festival (2–15 March 2026), the festival is our chance to celebrate the incredible role and contributions older adults have in our local communities. This year’s theme, Live Life in Colour, encourages everyone to embrace creativity, spark new connections, and enjoy an active lifestyle.

Booking Information

• Cost: Completely FREE for Federation Council residents aged 60+

• Book now from Council’s website.

• Transport: Please note that we are not running buses this year. Attendees must arrange their own transport to and from events. Learn more from Council’s website.

COMMUNITY GRANTS PROGRAM NOW OPEN

Federation Council is excited to announce that the 2025/2026 Community Grants Program is now open. This initiative empowers local groups to develop ideas, projects, and events that contribute to the vibrancy and connectivity of the Federation Council community. Key Details:

• Maximum Grant: Up to $5,000 per applicant.

• Who Can Apply: Not-for-profit community groups, organisations, and clubs.

• Applications close: Monday 16 March, 2026. Applications must be submitted via an online form, available from Council’s website. We strongly encourage all potential applicants to download and review the Guidelines document to ensure your project and initiatives are eligible for funding.

In accordance with Section 420 of the Local Government Act 1993 (NSW), any person may make a submission in writing to Council with respect to the Council’s Audited Financial Statements or the Auditor’s Reports. Submissions on the financial statements will be received in writing until 5pm Tuesday 24 February 2026.

The Audited Financial Statements and the Auditor’s Reports may be inspected on the Council’s website or copies may be viewed in person at the following Council offices up till 5pm Wednesday 18 February 2026:

• 59 Hawkins Street, Howlong

• 71 Melbourne Street, Mulwala

FEBRUARY COUNCIL MEETING

The February Council meeting is scheduled for Tuesday 17 February, 2026 at the Corowa Civic Centre.

Residents and ratepayers are cordially invited to attend Council Meetings or watch the meeting via live stream, which allows observing Council business via computer or mobile device. The live stream is available to access from Council’s website, along with previous minutes and the agenda for the meeting.

JOHN FOORD BRIDGE TEMPORARY CLOSURE

Transport for NSW has advised that the John Foord Bridge will be temporarily closed on Friday 13 February, 6am - 12 noon. Essential maintenance work is being carried out on the bridge through to June 2026, weather permitting. The work will improve the structural lifespan of the bridge and continue to improve safety for motorists and pedestrians who use the shared path.

MOBILE FOOD VAN EOI

Federation Council invites Expressions of Interest from businesses interested in operating a mobile food van at two prime park locations: Rowers Park in Corowa and Purtle Park in Mulwala. This is a fantastic opportunity to serve your delicious food to our local communities in our beautiful park settings. Mobile food vendors are encouraged to enquire today.
