COMPANION ANIMAL REGISTRATION REMINDER

Council has recently reviewed the NSW Companion Animals Register which includes the details of microchipped cats and dogs residing in the Federation Council area.

This review has found there are companion animals that are yet to be registered with Council as legally required. Under NSW law, dogs must be registered by six months of age and cats by four months of age.

As part of Council’s Companion Animals Compliance Program, reminder letters are being issued to residents where this applies. Our furry friends are so important in our lives and at Council, there is no better joy for our rangers to be able to return your pet home safely, however, if your pet is not registered they may not know where to return them to.

Registration can be completed online via the NSW Pet Registry petregistry.olg.nsw.gov.au/owners/register-a-pet or at any Council office during business hours.

COMMUNITY SATISFACTION SURVEY

Federation Council is undertaking its annual independent Community Satisfaction Survey during October!

The goal? To find out how satisfied you are with Council services, what service areas and facilities are most important to you, and what the community’s future needs are. Your feedback will guide our priorities.

Micromex Research will be contacting the 200 participants from last year’s survey on behalf of Council. Micromex is a professional market and community research company.

We look forward to reporting the findings of the survey to the community.

Federation Council advises that there are significant delays to all applications being lodged for each stage of the development process. Staff shortages, in conjunction with the increasing complexity of the NSW Planning Portal Processes required to be undertaken by Council has seen pre-lodgement assessment times increasing to 6-8 weeks and average determination times taking between 10-12 weeks. We ask you for your cooperation as Council officers concentrate on clearing the backlog of applications while maintaining all other legislated services.

Impacted residents will be advised in writing with specific details. Water may be temporarily unavailable for short periods during the cleaning process. Residents may experience short periods of dirty or discolored water immediately after the cleaning is completed. This is normal and temporary.

WEAR IT BLUE

“Wear it Blue” is a campaign organised by Federation Youth Council encouraging everyone to wear blue for mental health on Friday 3 October. The campaign will mark the beginning of Mental Health Month in NSW.

The Youth Councillors decided to do this initiative in hope of raising awareness and to reduce stigma surrounding mental health issues faced by people in the Federation Council area.

Whether it’s blue socks, a blue shirt, or even blue hair, wear something blue to show your support for mental health awareness. The goal is to spark conversations and help reduce the stigma around mental health in our community. The Federation Youth Council will be hosting a pop-up event in Memorial Plaza in Corowa on Friday 3 October, with information on local and online resources for people to take. Find out more from Council’s website.
