Jubiläumsfeier Anniversary celebration

Der Campus Gestaltung lud im Juli 2021 zum Festakt mit dem Titel »Aufbruch in die Zukunft!« ein. Es war die erste öffentliche Veranstaltung nach über einem Jahr pandemischer Pause und nicht nur der Hausherr, Dekan Prof. Dr. Matthias Sieveke, auch die rund 40 geladenen Gäste aus Politik und Kultur genossen den kulturellen Veranstaltungsabend.

Der Trierer Oberbürgermeister Wolfram Leibe und Dr. Katharina Popanda von der Kulturstiftung RheinlandPfalz waren als langjährige Freunde und Förderer des Campus Gestaltung zu Gast, ebenso der Leiter der Europäischen Kunstakademie Trier, Simon Santschi, und Teneka Beckers vom Kultur- und Kommunikationszentrum TUFA. Mit beiden Institutionen besteht eine gute Zusammenarbeit in Form von regelmäßigen Kooperationsprojekten. Auch der Intendant des Mosel Musikfestivals, Tobias Scharfenberger, besuchte die Veranstaltung. Pünktlich zum Festakt konnte er die skulpturalen Sitzgelegenheiten begutachten, die Studierende unter der Leitung von Prof. Jörg Obergfell in der interdisziplinären Lehre aus nicht genutzten Veranstaltungskatalogen des Festivals aus dem Pandemiejahr 2020 im Sinne eines Upcyclings gebaut hatten.

15 Jahre Campus Gestaltung: Der heutige Fachbereich Gestaltung mit seinen sechs Fachrichtungen wurde 2005/2006 gegründet, damals wurden 10 Fachbereiche der Fachhochschule Trier zu 5 Fachbereichen zusammengefasst, der noch relativ junge Studiengang Intermedia Design kam 2009 hinzu. »Es Ihnen gemeinsam gelungen, den Wissenschaftsort Campus Gestaltung als unseren Anker in der Stadt aufzubauen und mit der Kunst und Kulturszene in Trier, im Land, national und international zu vernetzen,« so die Hochschulpräsidentin Frau Prof. Dr. Dorit Schumann. Sie betonte auch, dass mit dem Ausbau des Campus Gestaltung um die alte Staatsanwaltschaft, geplant für 2024, der Innenstadtcampus noch weiter wachsen werde. »Der Campus wird ein Ort der Begegnung, die Vernetzung mit der Stadt wird noch stärker werden.«

In July 2021, the Campus of Art and Design invited the public to a ceremony entitled “Moving into the Future!” It was the first public event after a pandemic-related break of more than a year, and not only the host, Dean Prof. Dr. Matthias Sieveke, but also the approximately 40 guests invited from politics and culture enjoyed the cultural event evening.

The Mayor of Trier, Wolfram Leibe, and Dr. Katharina Popanda from the Cultural Foundation of Rhineland-Palatinate, as long-time friends and supporters of the Campus of Art and Design, were invited, as were the director of the European Art Academy Trier, Simon Santschi, and Teneka Beckers from the TUFA Culture and Communication Centre. The Design Campus enjoys good collaboration with both institutions in the form of regular joint projects. The director of the Mosel Music Festival, Tobias Scharfenberger, also attended the event. At the ceremony, he was able to examine the sculptural seating that students, under the supervision of Prof. Jörg Obergfell in his interdisciplinary teaching, had built from unused festival event catalogues from the 2020 pandemic year as a form of upcycling.

Nachhaltigkeit und Digitalisierung als Themen der Zukunft

Der Dekan Prof. Dr. Sieveke zeigte in einem anschließenden Rück- und Ausblick, wie sich der Campus Gestaltung in den letzten 15 Jahren entwickelt hat und erläuterte seine Visionen für die Zukunft. Auch er betonte die geplante Erweiterung des Campus um das Haus der Architektur. »Ein Campus bedeutet für mich die Entwicklung eines städtischen Quartiers und weniger eine Organisationseinheit,« so Sieveke. Zwei große Themen in der Zukunft sind für ihn zum einen die Nachhaltigkeit und zum anderen die Digitalisierung.

Für einen Impulsvortrag im Rahmen des Veranstaltungsabends konnte Prof. Dr. Michael Jäckel, Präsident der Universität Trier, gewonnen werden. Unter dem Titel »Nach rückwärts verstanden, nach vorwärts gelebt? Das Wiedererwachen der Gesellschaft« beleuchtete Jäckel die Zeit der Pandemie aus philosophischer, soziologischer und künstlerischer Sicht. »Die Corona-Krise entpuppt sich als Motor, als

Fifteen years of Campus of Art and Design: Today's Department of Design with its six disciplines was founded in 2005/2006, when ten disciplines were merged into five; in 2009, the still relatively young degree programme Intermedia Design was added.

“ Together, you have succeeded in establishing the Campus of Art and Design, a center of academic learning, as an anchor in our city and in networking it with the art and cultural scene in Trier, in the state, nationally and internationally,” said university president, Prof. Dr. Dorit Schumann. She also emphasised that with the expansion of the campus around the old public prosecutor's office, planned for 2024, the city centre campus will grow even further. “ The campus will become a meeting place, the networking with the city will become even stronger.”

Sustainability and digitalisation as topics of the future

In a subsequent review and outlook, Dean Prof. Dr. Sieveke showed how the Campus of Art and Design has developed over the past 15 years and explained his visions for the future. He also emphasised the planned expansion of the campus to include the House of Architecture. “For me, a campus means the development of an urban quarter rather than an organisational unit,” Sieveke said. Two major topics in the future for him are sustainability on the one hand and digitalisation on the other.

Prof. Dr. Michael Jäckel, President of Trier University, was persuaded to hold a keynote speech during the event evening. With the title “Understood Backwards, Lived Forwards? The Reawakening of Society ”, Jäckel illuminated the pandemic from a philosophical, sociological and artistic perspective. “The Covid crisis has turned out to be a motor, a kind of renaissance experience in the 21st century. Maybe it will change the way we look at the beauty of the world.” eine Art Renaissanceerfahrung im 21. Jahrhundert. Vielleicht ändert sich damit der Blick auf die Schönheit der Welt.«

Zum Abschluss des Abends gab es ein 30-minütiges Konzert von der Klassik zur Moderne, somit wurde auch die Musik als Teil der Kunst und Kultur am Campus Gestaltung integriert. Louisa Sieveke (16) an Fagott und Flöte und Ringaudas Ignotas Daraškevičius (17) am Flügel brachten die stimmungsvolle Jugendstil-Aula perfekt zum Klingen. Beide wurden im Jahr 2021 mit dem 1. Preis des Bundeswettbewerbs Jugend Musiziert ausgezeichnet.

At the end of the evening there was a 30-minute concert from classical to modern, thus music was also integrated into art and culture at the Campus of Art and Design. Louisa Sieveke (16) on bassoon and flute and Ringaudas Ignotas Daraškevičius (17) on grand piano made the atmospheric Art Nouveau auditorium sound perfect. Both were awarded the 1st prize in the national competition “Jugend Musiziert” in 2021.
