KYIV T YPE befasst sich mit der Design-Szene der ukrainischen Hauptstadt Kyiv. Das Buch bewegt sich zwischen dem typischen Coffee Table Book und einer fachlichen Design-Publikation. Es zeigt typografische Fundstücke sowie historischen Kontext, es kommen aber auch designfremde Bürger *innen im Rahmen einer emotionalen Betrachtung der Stadt zu Wort. Designer*innen aus Kyiv präsentieren exklusiv für K YIV T YPE ihre Projekte und Arbeitsweisen. Alle Texte wurden unverändert in ihrer Originalsprache Russisch oder Ukrainisch abgedruckt.

Die Stadt Kyiv ist weitläufig, grün und offen, trägt aber auch eine gewisse Schwere in sich. Der offene, bedruckte Buchrücken, das große sperrige Format, die Farbgebung und offene Haptik der Papiere tragen dazu bei, dieses Empfinden wiederzugeben.

KYIV TYPE focusses on the design scene of the Ukrainian capital Kyiv. The book is a mix between a typical coffee table book and a professional design publication. It shows typographic artifacts, as well as historical context, but also gives citizens from outside the design world a chance to speak in the context of an emotional view of the city. Designers from Kyiv present their projects and working methods exclusively for KYIV TYPE. All texts are printed unchanged in their original Russian or Ukrainian.

The city of Kyiv is spacious, green and open, but also carries a certain heaviness. The open, printed spine, the large bulky format, the colouring and open feel of the paper help to reflect this sensation.
