I am the most excited to see the event come together. The excitement is not only in being present at the event and certain aspects of the festival itself, but it is the excitement behind seeing all of the organization’s hard work come to life.

How does the Dogwood Festival impact our community?

The Fayetteville Dogwood Festival is a free and public event for the community. From all ages to all types of people, there is something for everyone. Littles can enjoy the KidZone, Bigs can enjoy the Midway, adults can enjoy the live music, and of course, everyone enjoys the food and vendors!

How can community members and organizations get involved?

How and when did the Dogwood Festival start?

The Fayetteville Dogwood Festival was established in 1982 when several community members such as Bill Hurley and John Malzone sought to hold a festival downtown for the community. Back in the day, the festival was nearly two weeks long and today, it has transitioned into a three-day festival with national headliners.

What can we expect from the Dogwood Festival this year?

FREE events for the family to enjoy. This year, we have made several initiatives to heighten the experience of the festival patrons and this includes an expansion of vendors on Hay Street, activities for all ages on Gillespie Street, and many other attractions within the footprint.

Anyone interested with the Fayetteville Dogwood Festival can email info@thedogwoodfestival.com or visit our website at thedogwoodfestival.com to sign-up to be a volunteer. We are always looking for help as an event like ours takes a community to create. Interested in sponsoring the festival? Email Sarahgrace Mitchell at director@thedogwoodfestival.com.

When do you begin planning each year and how do you select the performing artists?

The Fayetteville Dogwood Festival plans for the April Festival year-round, but in smaller segments in accordance with our other events – Fayetteville After Five and the Dogwood Fall Festival. We select performing artists based on our budget and popularity to the Fayetteville market.
