Interview with Nicholas D. Crecy, Founder and CEO

Describe the meaning behind your brand and tell us what inspired you to create your clothing line?

The inspiration behind the brand is that we all have the potential to be great in life, we just have to find it within ourselves to see that greatness and own it. As a kid to the present, I have always loved fashion and everything about it. From the designs, to the fonts and even materials of the clothing, I also have a huge love for sneakers as well.

At a young age my mother worked hard to keep me in the trending clothes and sneakers. I can remember when my mother was working on creating a clothing brand herself when I was around 12 years old, she named it “BAF38” which was the initials of my late uncle Bruce A. Faison who passed at 38 years of age.

As I approached high school, the love for fashion did nothing but increase, I can remember getting something new almost every weekend and as I went into college, I decided to get with a friend of mine to create a clothing brand outline. This would be the start of my entrepreneurship and although the team ended up taking different routes over the years, everything I learned has allowed me to grow VISIONARIES to what it is today.

Manifestation is important. Shout out to my uncle Royvell Godbolt who taught me some wise words, the saying goes “YOU HAVE TO SEE IT, BEFORE YOU SEE IT, OR YOU WILL NEVER SEE IT.” This has always stuck with me and influenced the brand so much that we decided to drop a tee with a similar quote on the back. The “See Beyond Your Sight” Tee, which has become one of our best sellers.

In all, we want to inspire people to see beyond what they physically see in front of them and think about what they see within themselves and wear that confidently, similar to how you feel when you put on some new clothes.

Man, the brand as a whole is FIRE! How do you come up with your designs? What is your creative process?

THANK YOU, I basically see or hear things around me on a day to day and just use my surroundings as inspirations. Life is full of inspiration for me, to channel it we just have to take out the time to notice the things around and use them to inspire us.

As far as the creative process goes, I meet with the team for our brainstorming session and share sketches and references to pieces that are not only in style but represent the streetwear culture we serve. After we form the design and get a few things mocked up, we go into a lengthy process of manufacturing where I hand select materials and garments. This is usually the longest part because I stress quality as well as giving my customers a reasonable price point.

Now let’s get into this new drop! Tell us about your new drop released this February.

The Love collection was a Valentine Day exclusive with a twist. We took the idea of love and thought about what has gotten us this far as a brand… then boom Loyalty, which sparked the whole Love Over Loyalty tee.

The Love collection is one of our most detailed collections released as a brand. This collection includes a long sleeve tee, a pair of sweats, a trucker hat, along with a few accessories that I have had in my bag for awhile.

The Loyalty Over Love long sleeve tee is mixed with puff and flat screen print which can be seen throughout the design, on the front and back we keep it consistent with a large design and even added print on the sleeve. As far as the sweatpants, we also included a high quality thick puff down the leg with our standard logo name VISIONARIES.

And for the final piece, we threw in our NC Trucker hat which has a mixer of patches and embroidery. We highlighted NC for this one including 910 area code embroidered on the back and our state bird the cardinal as well. Although all the pieces were initially a Valentine’s Day exclusive, we decided to continue them for purchase due to the fact they caught good attraction and can live outside the Valentine’s Day theme.

How do you want people to feel wearing your brand?

We would love for people to be comfortable when wearing one of our pieces whether it’s a hat or a matching set, knowing the design was created with our community and culture in mind. We hope that someone wearing our clothing not only wears it because it looks good, but shares that same drive to inspire others to continue chasing their goals because there is really nothing stopping you but YOU.
