Lukáš Prokop

Podle teoretika Simona O’Sullivana spočívá síla umění ve schopnosti překódovat dominantní pojetí reality a v síle vytvářet dříve neznámé alternativy. Podobná snaha je vlastní i práci Lukáše Prokopa (* 1997), který využívá produktivního potenciálu (sci-fi) fikce k budování nových světů, jež by přesahovaly mantinely známé antropogenní imaginace. Jeho díla [např. Whispers Divulging (2020) nebo Oozing Worlds into Being (2022)] těchto cizích sfér dosahují za pomoci spletitých tvůrčích strategií a experimentů s technologiemi zahrnujících postprocessing, generativní design či tvorbu s pseudonahodilým digitálním šumem. Současně se vymykají jednoduchým kategorizacím, neboť Prokopovi je vlastní oscilace mezi různými médii: subtilně spojuje práci s videem, grafikou, objektem, fotografií, textilem, psaním nebo digitálním tiskem. Aktivním zapojením technologických kreativních procesů do tvorby Prokop taktéž záměrně problematizuje i svou autorskou roli jako výhradního producenta uměleckého obsahu/díla. Ukazuje nám, že tvůrce je součástí složitých a rozprostřených sítí, které se čím dál více organizují na osách optických kabelů či skrze strojové vidění. Jeho práce tak přivádí pozornost k působení technických zařízení a k vlivům, které mají na naše vnímání a chápání světa. Důraz na dynamiku a tekutost těchto techno-lidských systémů znázorňuje i jeho proměnný umělecký pseudonym h5io6i54k, pod nímž – s vědomím nestálosti digitální identity – vystupuje jako VJ, grafik, umělec či tvůrce hudebních videí. V rámci diplomové výstavy představuje svůj závěrečný krátký videoesejistický film Concomitant Outgrowth Event (2023).

Lukáš Prokop je absolventem Ateliéru video u Martina Mazance a Jana Šrámka na FaVU VUT v Brně. Jeho díla byla vystavena v Galerii Mladých, Zaazrak|Dornych nebo Garage Gallery. Často také spolupracuje s dalšími tvůrci*tvůrkyněmi nebo uskupeními, jako je například umělecká skupina BCAAsystem či labely Genot Centre, Gin&Platonic nebo brněnským SOfT.

According to theorist Simon O’Sullivan, the power of art lies in its ability to recode the dominant conception of reality and in its power to create previously unknown alternatives. A similar endeavour is inherent in the works of Lukáš Prokop (* 1997), who uses the productive potential of science fiction to build new worlds that transcend the confines of the familiar anthropogenic imagination. His works [e.g. Whispers Divulging (2020) and Oozing Worlds into Being (2022)] achieve these other spheres with the help of intricate creative strategies and experiments with technologies involving post-processing, generative design, and creation with pseudo-random digital noise. They also defy simple categorisations, because Prokop’s inherent oscillation between different media subtly combines work with video, graphics, objects, photography, textiles, writing and digital print.

By actively involving technological creative processes in his work, Prokop deliberately makes problematic his authorial role as the exclusive producer of artistic contents/works. He shows us that the creator is part of the complex and distributed networks that are increasingly organised on the axes of fibre-optic cables or through machine vision. His work thus brings our attention to the effects of technical devices and the effects they have on our perception and understanding of the world. The emphasis on the dynamics and fluidity of these techno-human systems is illustrated by his changing artistic pseudonym h5io6i54k, under which—knowing the fluidity of digital identity—he performs as a VJ, a graphic designer, an artist, and a music video maker. As part of the diploma exhibition, he presents his final short video essay film Concomitant Outgrowth Event (2023).

Lukáš Prokop is a graduate of the Video Studio under Martin Mazanec and Jan Šrámek at the FFA BUT. His works were exhibited at the Gallery of the Young, Zaazrak|Dornych, and the Garage Gallery. He also often collaborates with other artists or groups, such as the art group BCAAsystem, and the labels Genot Centre, Gin&Platonic, and SOfT from Brno.
