FSA Partners Make Holiday Drive a Success Family Service Association’s 2016 Holiday Drive was a complete success, granting more than 1,000 holiday wishes and enriching many families’ lives.

FSA’s corporate partners included Borgata Hotel & Casino, Shoprite, Spencer’s Gifts, Spirit Halloween, First National Bank of Absecon, AtlantiCare, Kid Academy of Absecon, Atlantic Christian School, DePaul Healthcare, The Galloway/Absecon Rotary Club, Ivy Rehab & Physical Therapy of Somers Point, Lolla Chiropractic, Peace Lutheran Church, Bright Stars Gymnastics, the Egg Harbor Township High School Ice Hockey Team, the Bailey family, Covenant House and a host of donors that made this year's Holiday Drive an unforgettable season for many children. Also, thank you to the following for their in-kind donations to our Family Life Center program: Shore Medical Center Auxiliary, St. Katharine Drexel Church and St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church.

Agency Profile

On January 16, 2017, Stockton University students and advisors once again partnered with Family Service Association for the 13th annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service.

Projects included volunteers sorting and organizing donations at the Bargain Boutique Thrift Store. Service volunteers were also on hand at the New Day Family Success Center in Galloway, helping conduct engagement projects with children and families.

Family Service Association is a multi-service, not-for-profit United Way agency that serves over 8,500 children, adolescents and adults annually. As the needs of the people in this community have become evident, Family Service Association has responded by providing premier services. For more than a century, the agency has served southern New Jersey with a creative administration and service delivery structure with programming that benefits children and families.

Family Service Association's service areas include behavioral health, anti-poverty, child welfare and strengthening families and communities. Our mission is to improve the quality of life for individuals and families in our community.

THE JOURNEY FSA Honors McKenzie, Garrett, SAIF for 2016 Family Service Association is proud to announce its Employee, Manager and Team of the Year for 2016.

The 2016 Employee of the Year was awarded to Latarsha McKenzie of the Parents as Teachers Program. McKenzie was the recipient of the Theresa McDermott Teamwork Award.

The 2016 Manager of the Year was awarded to Sheena Garrett, who works in the Kinship Program. Garrett was the recipient of the Jerome J. Johnson Award.

The 2016 Team of the Year was awarded to Supportive Aid to Individuals and Families (SAIF), led by Manager Karen Murphy and composed of team members Adam Fishman, Jennifer Montalvo, Dawn Belamarich, Elizabeth Miller, Kelly Wisniewski, Carrie Sanders, Natalie Knight, Nicole Dalton, Florine Roberts and Cindy Herdman Ivins.

“All of these individuals are so talented and the agency is lucky to have them,” said Cindy Herdman-Ivins, President/CEO of Family Service Association. “Each one has earned this achievement through dedication and excellent work, and they deserve our heartfelt congratulations.”

Technology is a distraction from meaningful family conversations at the dinner table, but FSA and the national Device Free Dinner Campaign aim to change that. We are promoting the #DeviceFreeDinner pledge to encourage parents and children to set aside their mobile devices and TVs during mealtime and focus on conversation.

FSA Hosts Inaugural Faces of Hope Event Family Service Association’s first Faces of Hope fundraiser was held November 30, 2016 to raise awareness for children and families facing poverty, homelessness and unemployment. Beacon of Hope awards were presented to South Jersey Gas, which has donated more than $25,000 to FSA, and to Borgata’s Heart and Soul Foundation, which has donated more than $40,000.
