Keep your rate notice in a safe place for use if you intend selling your property or borrowing against the property.

LIABILITY FOR RATES: A person who disposes of an estate

or interest in land continues to be liable to pay a rate or charge levied in respect of the land if the rate or charge was levied before the estate or interest was disposed of, or after the estate or interest was disposed of but before Notice of Transfer is received by Council.

The rate notice has details of the Title particulars of your land.

PAYMENT METHODS These payment methods are offered for your convenience.

PENSIONERS: If you have a Pensioner Concession Card and

there is no Pensioners Rate Reduction shown on the original rate notice, please contact our Rates Section. (Note Pensioner Rate Reductions are not shown on instalment notices.) Should you become a pensioner after the date of this notice a partial rebate may apply.

PAYMENT IN FULL: If you intend to pay rates and charges in full (one single instalment payment) the instalment must be received by 31 August of the current rating year. INSTA LMENTS: Rates and Charges can be paid by

instalments as per the front of the Rates and Charges Notice. Instalment notices will be sent one month before each payment is due. When paying by post, time should be allowed to ensure payment is received on or before the due date.

INTEREST CHARGES: Amounts not received by the instalment dates are subject to daily interest charges. Legal action may be taken and costs added to your account. In cases of hardship, alternative arrangements for payments may be made, but interest charges may still apply. POSTPONED RATES: If you live in a single dwelling on land

that could be subdivided or developed, the rateable value of your land may be more than is usual for a single dwelling. If this is the case you may be able to postpone the payment of part of your rates.

PAYMENT THROUGH POST OFFICE

NON-RATEABLE CLAIMS: A property may be non-rateable if it is

owned and used in relation to activities carried out by churches; schools; public hospitals; charities or public institutions. A person who has an estate in land, or who is the holder of licence or permit under the Crown Lands Act 1989, may appeal to the Land and Environment Court against levying of the rate. The appeal must be made within 30 days of the rates and charges notice being served.

The amount you specify is transferred from your Centrelink payment, pension or allowance. You may choose to start, stop or change your deductions at any time. Council can also assist to set you up for Centrepay deductions.
