2 Summer holidays

GRIP 2 Engelsk Grunnbok!

1 New beginnings

3 Back to school

God Annelesning!LiseSvendahl

OLAV : So, class, what are you going to do this summer? Any plans for the holidays?

OLAV : That sounds nice! What about you, Sita?

SITA : I’m so excited! I have great plans for the summer. I’m actually going to start my own business!

talking about their plans for the summer holidays.

ALI : Yes, I did. I used to do the dishes there, but I quit. Now I want to do something different. I’m done with dirty dishes!

OLAV : I hope so, too! What about the rest of you?

ALI : I really want a job for the summer, but I still haven’t found any. I am going to apply for another one today. Wish me luck!

NIMO : But didn’t you have a part-time job at a burger restaurant?

KEYWORDS barbecue, amusement park

MARIA : Yes, I am going to spend a lot of time with my son, Sebastian. We are going to travel to Bergen. Sebastian’s uncle lives there, and he is going to show us the city.

131 New beginnings • Plans for the summer holidays

SITA : I’m sorry, but I don’t want to tell anyone yet. Alex is going to help me, and we are going to rent a summer house by the sea and spend two weeks there with our kids. We are going to relax, play on the beach and have a barbecue in the evenings. Hopefully the weather will be nice.

OLAV : That’s fantastic, Sita! What type of business will it be?

14 GRIP 2 Engelsk

SITA : Good luck, Nimo! I am going to cook some Indian food for you and your kids one day soon.

NIMO : Oh, thanks! That’s very kind of you!

YONAS : I see! Luckily I still work as a server at an Italian restaurant, but in July I am going to visit my friend in Oslo. He works as a DJ in the evenings, and that’s so cool! I love music!

OLAV : Well, first of all, my wife and I are going to our cabin in the mountains. After that, I may go to England for a few days.

NIMO : I guess everyone knows my plans for this summer. I am going to have a baby! Haha!

HASSAN : I just want peace and quiet. Aziza and the kids are going to an amusement park with some Norwegian friends for a couple of days, and I am just going to read books and relax. But what are you going to do, Olav?

OLAV : Haha, yes, we know! Good luck, Nimo!

I haven’t seen my relatives there in a while.

MIDWIFE : What about your husband? Can he help you so that you can put your feet up?

NIMO : Yes, that’s correct. I’m tired, and there’s so much to do before the baby comes, but I think that’s normal.

MIDWIFE : Good. Now we’ll listen to her heartbeat. There it is. Do you hear it? She has turned. Her head is now at the bottom of your belly. That means that her back is here along your belly, and her bum is up here, below your rib cage.

MIDWIFE : How are you feeling today? You are now at week 36 in your pregnancy, is that correct?

Today, Nimo has a check-up with her midwife. She scheduled an early appointment, and she hopes to be back at school for the second lesson. It is the last planned check-up with the midwife before the birth.

NIMO : That’s the plan. Otherwise, my friends Sita and Maria will be with me.

MIDWIFE : It’s perfectly normal, but remember to relax.

NIMO : I’m trying.

Nimo’s prenatal control

NIMO : He would love to, but he works in Scotland. He’s an environmental engineer, and he doesn’t get leave until two days before the due date or if I go into labour.

MIDWIFE : Good to hear. I’ll check the baby’s positioning now, and then I’ll check your blood pressure and urine sample. Have you felt the baby move around or kick this morning?

16 GRIP 2 Engelsk

NIMO : Yes, she’s awake.

MIDWIFE : I see. But he will be with you during the delivery?

MARIA : Great! Now, all that we need to figure out is when I’m moving in.

MARIA : Hello, everyone. Sorry, we’re late. Sebastian is playing with Noora, Said and Ali in the living room. Nimo, I’ve brought some baby clothes, and this wonderful breast pump.
