THE FAMILY Maddalena Carini was born on March 1st, 1917 at Cascina Morona Bereguardo, an agriagricultural village in the province of Pavia, the daughter of Giuseppe Carini and Francesca Bianchi Martina. 1979-1998: INVALID AGAIN In the morning of DecemDecember 11th, 1978, Maddalena doesn’ doesn’t succeed in stanstanding up any longer: she will spend the following 19 years bedbed-ridden in a room at Villa Maria in Sanremo. One of her closest friends, even if absent at the moment of her death, says: «From the tender memories of those who were present and having seen her after death, I am absolutely sure that she offered and spent the last drops and the last fibers of her blood and body, in order to live her mission completely, without sparing herself» herself».
