SERVICES Museo del Jamón (Monesterio). An interactive tour, which is divided into two floors, shows the visitor a journey from the Extremadura pasture and its peculiarities, through the Iberian pig, to the experience of tasting a good Iberian acorn ham, jamón ibérico de bellota. NATURAL AREAS Fuente de Cantos SBPA. SBPA declared by the presence of the Lesser Kestrel, the only bird of prey that nests in colonies located in urban areas, preferably in historic buildings. We can see them in the town, especially during the breeding season.
REGIONAL TOURIST INTEREST FESTIVITIES Fiesta de la Chanfaina (Fuente de Cantos). A gastronomic festival that revolves around the competition for the preparation of chanfaina, a humble shepherd’s dish made with different entrails and lamb meat. At the same time, another competition of white and red wines of the area is held. Romería de San Isidro (Fuente de Cantos). This rural festival is held on 15th May, when pilgrims and decorated floats make their way to the chapel of the patron saint of the countryside, located on the outskirts of the town.

Día del Jamón (Monesterio). Since 1990, this day has been celebrated in the first fortnight of September, with the Iberian ham of Monesterio as the protagonist. The vast dehesas of southern Extremadura, the largest and best preserved on the planet, are the ideal home for raising the Iberian pig and for producing a unique and inimitable product: Iberian ham, the best in the world.
