There are lots of fun and interesting things you can do on the internet. And it can be a great way to stay in touch with friends. But it’s important to understand how to stay safe online.
Sometimes people will try to trick you into clicking dangerous links or sharing things about yourself or something you’ve shared might be used to bully or frighten you.

Year 7 students Ahaz and Umar along with Year 8 students Miradie and Nadirah joined the Petchey Karate Club (OKI) and passed their exercise exams with outstanding grades B/B+ on 16 December 2023. Well done to those students!
Last Friday Mr Deria and students from Year 7 and 8 enjoyed tea and cake together. It was a delightful afternoon tea party as a way of saying THANK YOU to some of our most accomplished and very talented students.
Year 12 students visited M&G’s offices recently. Students learned more about the benefits of apprenticeships, and explored careers in Investment Management.
Year 12 Pathway to Law students have visited their 3rd firm since joining our sixth form. Today, students enjoyed a trip to Baker McKenzie where they were given in depth advice on pursuing a career in the legal sector, and provided with application tips for the Beginnings at Baker McKenzie programme. Well done to all involved!
Year 10 students have enjoyed two sessions at King’s College London learning more about engineering.
Today, students attended a 3D printing workshop, and all printed something of their choice.
Last week our First Robotics Team and the Alumni spoke about their first journey and demonstrated their robot for the current season at the Game Changers Conference. They spoke with confidence and eloquence, and returned energised to make ‘Kevin’ the robot even better.
Year 12 students attended Sixth Form Question Time at Westminster Abbey. Students heard from a fantastic panel of politicians, faith leaders, and activists, including Wes Streeting MP, Detective Superintendent Will Lexton Jones, and Bishop Rosemarie Mallet. Topics discussed included migration, accessibility of higher education and society’s trust in policing.
Year 9 students are pictured at Travers Smith LLP working alongside lawyers from HSBC and Travers Smith to learn more about the UK economy. Students discussed topics such as tax, benefits and the differences between local and national government.
Year 9 enjoyed working with Consultants at KPMG. Students had to come up with an innovative solution to help improve the efficiency of the ambulance service using technology!

As we head towards the final term of the academic year, we are thrilled to announce a new set of exciting enrichment activities lined up for your child from next term onward. TO CELEBRATE WORLD BOOK DAY
AND THE LOVE OF READING, THE PETCHEY ACADEMY WILL HAVE A WHOLE SCHOOL LITERACY THEMED COSTUME DAY ON THURSDAY 7 MARCH 2024 FOR OUR YEARS 7-10 STUDENTS. THIS YEAR THE THEME WILL BE ‘FANTASY AND THE SUPERNATURAL’ TO COINCIDE WITH OUR ENGLISH CURRICULUM PAYING TRIBUTES TO THE CHARACTERS ‘OUT OF THIS WORLD’.
