Our school is always a hive of creativity and achievement, where our students are inspired to learn, create, question, enquire and make progress both academically and as individuals.

It is also a place where we think about others and do what we can to help.

You can read below about the way in which our community came together to help families in Jamaica following the devastating hurricane a while ago. This effort and support embodied the messages of kindness and thinking of others that we recently shared on World Kindness Day.

Our end of term Charities Week has been focussed on helping local families in need and other local good causes.

Staff have also been recognising the achievements of our students through a series of rewards events during this final week of term, and it has been a pleasure to meet some of these students and personally pass on my congratulations.

Congratulations also go to Year 11 student Michael, our Jack Petchey Award winner for November and Callum in Year 12 for December.

Well done to all of our students who have participated in recent challenges and events.

WORLD KINDNESS DAY AND ANTI BULLING WEEK

Every year, bullying impacts the lives of countless young people, and silence helps it grow.

That’s why, this Anti-Bullying Week, young people were encouraged to use their Power for Good to safely speak up and raise awareness when they see bullying, face to face or online. Lasting change needs all of us. From playgrounds to parliament, our homes to our phones we all have a part to play.

Together, we can use our Power for Good to end bullying for good.

World Kindness Day also gave students the opportunity to show and share acts of kindness to others.

WHAT’SBEENHAPPENING...?

Students from art, drama and music came together to showcase their talents for family, friends and teachers. Well done to all of those involved, including Ms Bailey and Ms Hohenkirk for their time and hard work in ensuring a successful performance!

Year 10 and Year 12 students welcomed Samuel, an Associate at Freshfields Law firm. He delivered an inspiring and aspirational talk on his journey from school exclusions and poor grades to becoming engaged in education, leading to a successful career.

Year 12 Pathway to Finance students were absolutely spoilt on a trip to Pollen Street! They met with employees from across the business and were inundated with lots praise, treats and food. HR teams also graded the student’s CV’s. Well done and we hope they enjoyed their day!

Year 9 students enjoyed attending JP Morgan in Canary Wharf for the launch of the School’s Challenge.

This is a program where secondary school students are mentored by JP Morgan Chase employees to develop solutions for real-world problems. It is a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) outreach and social innovation program that takes place in several cities globally and helps students build skills in critical thinking, teamwork, and leadership. The program focuses on projects that tackle issues like improving air quality or sustainability in cities.

We are very excited to be taking part again this year!

Year 8 students enjoyed a visit to UCL where they explored degrees in performing arts. They also got to have a tour and perform their own mime piece.
