he school continues to celebrate the artistic achievements of its students for Rewards Month!

ear 8 EAL trip to see the new Beauty and the Beast Film. The Y8 EAL class has recently been studying traditional children’s stories. We considered the important lesson of “Beauty and the Beast” that true beauty comes from the inside. During Rewards Month it seemed appropriate to enjoy a visit to the cinema to see the latest Disney version of the story.

onday 27th - Year 7 netball tournament at Greenford High School. Thursday 30th, GCSE PE Moderation​- 11 pupils will be judging a primary Gymnastics competition at Alec Reed Academy

Tuesday 28th, 5 pm - Workshop for parents on Relationships and Sex education (RSE) 9CKs, 9MRe, 9QOi & 9RLg. I would like to invite you to come in on Tuesday 28th March, 5 to 6pm in the canteen. This will be an opportunity for you to come in and look at the resources used in the lessons and ask questions about any aspects of the curriculum. Students looking at the Art rewards exhibition

Behaviour Focus for this Week

verdue Library Books: Please return library books before the end of term. Spread your Love for Reading around the school and donate your old books to the EWS Book Swap project. Post your donations in the box in the library. The books will be made available for everyone to swap, read and share. Our new Scholastic Book Club is up and running! Go to http://schools.scholastic.co.uk/ellen-wilkinson-sch to browse the latest books and order online. For every £1 you spend on this month’s Book Club, our school will earn 20p to spend on books for the library. Please place your order online by March 31st, 2017. Students, enter the Design a Bookmark Competition and you could win a £10 book token! Entry forms available from the library. Closing date 31st March.

Earth hour https://www.earthhour.org/ Each year millions of people around the globe will switch off for Earth Hour to shine a light on the need for climate action. Why don’t you join in Saturday 25 March 2017 8:30-9:30PM switch off all the lights in your house!

ational Science Week activities at Ellen Wilkinson School. As part of our celebration of National science week a number of activities will be occurring in school next week. Moon rocks exhibition - The science department will be hosting genuine samples of rock from the moon which have been loaned to us for the week. Your science teachers will tell you more about when you can see them. Colour Chaos Chemistry - On Monday and Tuesday lunchtimes at 1:15 to 1:45 you will be able to take part in some activities investigating colour in chemical reactions (Please see Miss Ferchichi or Miss Patel for more information). Orange Surgery - On Tuesday lunchtime come along to the science department to have a go at learning some basic surgical techniques by operating on an orange. Rocket build and launch challenge On Wednesday after school year 8 students will have the chance to build and launch rockets and see how high we can get them to go. See Mr Jones to sign up to take part (This event will be form 3:30pm to 4:30pm). Science Bake Off - On Thursday at lunchtime Miss Knight will be running a Science Bake off challenge for you to bring in your science themed home made cakes. Please see the posters on display around the science deparment for more information about specific events and venues.

hursday 30th, Heathrow Lego Mindstorm Challenge. The HLMC is a workshop for Year 8 students delivered in schools in the boroughs of Ealing, Hillingdon, Hounslow, Slough and Spelthorne. The programme is provided by Heathrow and the sessions are run by a team of two people from Learning to Work, a not-for-profit organisation. The programme is designed to: • Encourage Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths study and careers. • Introduce students to the Heathrow Apprenticeship scheme, and understand the skills and knowledge required to work at the airport. • Develop skills for the world of work including: communications, team working and confidence building.

ednesday 19th April is the first day back for all students and it is expected that all students will be in attendance and on time. This is a normal school day starting at 8.40 with registration/ assembly.
