Message from MS KRUGER
Who is your favourite author? I asked Ms Margetts, and she couldn’t choose so she gave me three!
CJ Sansom: The Shardlake series starting with Dissolution
This is a series of 7 books. The development of each character is amazing. You start to really empathise with the plot and characters. The series is set in Tudor times which gives you a really good understanding of the era.
Ken Fowlett: The Kingsbridge series starting with The Pillars of the Earth Takes you on a journey through medieval and middle age England like no other.
This is not for the casual reader, a real page turner, an excellent trilogy. Highly recommend.
Don't let the length of the book put you off. The characters are so relatable. the plot is twisting and turning - amazing.
Karen Maitland: Company of liars - The year is 1348 and the first plague victim has reached English shores. Panic erupts around the country and a small band of travellers comes together to outrun the deadly disease, unaware that something far more deadly isin fact - travelling with them.
This is one of the most amazing books I've read. You need to really grapple with the first 100 pages but after that the characterisation is absolutely on point and the storyline is spellbounding. The twist at the end I didn't see coming. I absolutely loved it.

Keeping Well In Winter
Going back to School can be a difficult time for many young people, particularly in winter when the days are shorter and the weather is colder and wetter.
You may find that you’ve been finding it difficult to sleep, getting irritable with people faster than usual, being less social, struggling to focus, eating more, feeling tired and low on energy with less motivation, negative thinking and feeling low/sad.
These feelings are common, and we can do things to help yourselves to feel better
Self-Care Ideas
Spend evenings doing positive things such as: painting, sewing, baking/cooking, bubble baths, podcasts, reading, quality time with family, connecting with friends, meditation, exercise, planning your following day, journalling, music.

Year 10 EWS Level
2 Sports Leaders have been busy this week officiating and organising events hosted at EWS. Students ran the y9 Ealing Borough Netball Tournament in extreme rain and difficult weather conditions. They efficiently ran the round robin table and communicated with teaching staff from other schools. On Friday, EWS hosted the Yr4-6 Boccia Competition which was again challenging due to lots of noise from a busy sportshall. The leaders showed empathy and kindness when umpiring the games.
Event coordinator Nikki Christensen from the Willow Tee School Sports Partnership (WTSSP) said, " Year 10 EWS sports leaders did a fantastic job officiating at our WTSSP y4-6 Boccia Competitionthank you for your support!" For more information visit www.sportsleaders.org
What I'm reading
Name: Holly, 9QW
Book title: Noughts and Crosses
Author: Malorie Blackman
What I think of it: This is a book about two early childhood friends falling in love in a world full of racism and prejudice. A world where the society is ruled by black people and are superior to the white.
