Acrylic Paint and Conté on Black Bristol-board.
Inspired by Réné Magritte’s “Memory”, I created a modern story of a lost love. Although the rose and the bell still holds the same values as his original, the bust connected to the body of the iconic discus statue symbolizes the literal feeling of never being in control when we lose something so precious that we loved. In today’s society, anger and jealousy fills our body and we swerve out of control. Therefore the sensation is stiff and uneasy, just like the statue in my piece, for we do not know what true patience is about.
