Modernising Herbert, Stradling and Pembroke.

Over the summer period much needed work was undertaken to redevelop the Herbert and Stradling blocks on the Cyncoed Campus. These building had barely been touched since they were built in the 1960‟s. Roll the clock forward fifty years and we have taken away the shared showers and baths, and removed the drying cupboards resulting in bright and airy en-suite catered rooms.

Plas Gwyn has equally had a major refurbishment of the Pembroke block, making these halls contemporary and competitive with the commercial providers.
These improvements all help to enhance the student experience and importantly from the statistics received to date appear to be encouraging student retention.

The good news is that through changing the bathrooms and redesigning the kitchen areas we have gained an extra 5 bedrooms in Herbert and 7 in Stradling. Its been hugely popular with the students, although not all are convinced
