I hope everyone had a fantastic Thanksgiving and is eagerly anticipating the joyous Christmas season ahead! We're thrilled about the upcoming events at our club. The Member Christmas Party on Wednesday, December 6, followed by the Santa Hat Classic on Saturday, December 9, are shaping up to be remarkable. Let's make this year's Christmas celebration the most memorable and highly attended yet by joining in and spreading the holiday spirit! You can click here or on the calendar page to RSVP for the Member Christmas Party! Don’t forget to sign up for the Santa Hat Classic as well. We are once again partnering with Cypress Assistance Ministries to help put bikes and helmets in the hands of deserving children that might not otherwise receive a Christmas gift like that. I don’t know about you, but that’s something I want to be a part of. Coming this month is our new website. This will be a new look not only when you log onto blackhorsegolfclub.com, but the entire member portal will look different. This is very exciting and something I believe each and every one of you will love to use more and more. Please be on the lookout for an email from me that gives instructions on how to log into the new member portal. For those of you using the app, there will be no changes to that right now. Launch date for the new website is December 6! We will be available to answer any questions you may have at the Member Christmas Party. Your active engagement and enthusiasm continue to make BlackHorse Golf Club a vibrant and welcoming place. I'm looking forward to seeing each of you at these upcoming events and prepping our team for the turn of the year where we will aim to continue improving our Club and offering to you each and every day.

MEMBERSHIP MEMBERSHIP UPDATE Neil Sherrod
As we approach the end of another incredible year, I want to take a moment to celebrate the successes and camaraderie we've experienced together. It has truly been a remarkable year for our Club, filled with shared moments on the course, in the clubhouse, and during the numerous events. Someone upstairs must like me to bless me with such a fulfilling place to work. The Members, coworkers and friends that feel like family - I am truly blessed and love the different perspective I get from members of all walks of life. We’re looking forward and the excitement is building for our Member Christmas Party. If you haven't already, please ensure you RSVP to secure your spot for what promises to be a festive and memorable celebration. I was able to get a sneak peak at the menu and the food is going to be fantastic! It's the perfect opportunity to come together, raise a toast to the year gone by, and revel in the joy of the holiday season with your fellow members. Plus, we’re going to give away some awesome prizes! Speaking of upcoming events, our crowd favorite is on deck after the Christmas Party. Santa Hat Classic was started with Keith and Scott Vrana many years ago and quickly became a staple of our membership tournament schedule. It really wouldn’t be the holidays without the Santa Hat Classic. As many of you know, the entry for this event is a bike to be donated to under privileged kids of Cypress. I’m not sure Keith & Scott could have imagined how much joy this event would bring to so many kids over the years, but it is a site to be seen for sure! As we enter this time of year, it's undoubtedly my favorite. The crisp air carries the thrill of late-season football, and our surroundings are filled with the spirit of the holidays. It's a time for warmth, celebration, and the pleasure of gathering with those we love. Let's embrace this season and continue to foster the strong bonds that make our BlackHorse Golf Club so special. Wishing you all a wonderful holiday season filled with joy, togetherness, and unforgettable moments both on and off the course.
GOLF COURSE MAINTENANCE SUPERINTENDENT UPDATE Chris Teafatiller
It's been an calm but fun start for me during my first couple of months as the Golf Course Maintenance Superintendent here at our Club. The warm welcome and enthusiasm from all of you have made this transition incredibly rewarding. I'm excited to share some of the progress we've made and the exciting plans ahead. One of the most noticeable impacts we've achieved recently is the enhancement of our greens. Through meticulous efforts, we've successfully firmed up the greens, improving their playability and feel. This transformation aims to provide you with a better and more consistent experience anytime your ball finds the green. Additionally, our efforts in overseeding on the range and par three tees have borne fruit, quite literally. The lush growth is a testament to the dedication of our team and the application they put on those surfaces. We appreciate your patience during the times we had the grass tees closed. Looking forward, I'm eager for my first growing season with the Club. It's a pivotal time where we plan to make significant strides in further elevating the quality and aesthetics of our course. Your support and feedback are invaluable as we continue to enhance every aspect of the course. I'm thrilled to share that the parking lot perimeter project has been completed successfully, featuring a new fence and bull rock finishing (pictured below). We're delighted with the outcome and hope it adds to the overall charm of our club. As we approach the festive season, on behalf of the entire golf course maintenance team, I'd like to extend warm wishes for a Merry Christmas. May this holiday season bring you joy, laughter, and moments of serenity both on and off the greens.
GOLF HEAD GOLF PROFESSIONAL Jesse Campbell, PGA
Wow, what an incredible year it has been since I stepped into the role of Head Golf Professional here at BlackHorse! Time really has a way of flying by when you're having fun. I can't express enough gratitude to the amazing Membership who has embraced me with open arms from day one. If we haven't had the chance to meet yet, I'd love for you to seek me out and say hi – I'm always eager to connect! It's been so rewarding witnessing positive changes unfold at BlackHorse during my time here. From transforming the range area with a stylish fence and bull rock, to the addition of turf in the Member area. We added two fabulous starter buildings, and spruced up the course with fresh sod, the improvements have been remarkable. We've even given the parking lot and driveway a makeover, attending to countless small details that make a big difference. As we dive into December, get ready for a month filled with excitement! We've got an array of festive events lined up, including the much-anticipated Member Christmas Party, the spirited Santa Hat Classic, two fantastic BHLGA Events, a Couples Event, four Member Guest Days, and to top it off, four Complimentary Member Clinics. If you haven't joined in on the fun before, now is the perfect time to jump in. For our newer members or those who haven't experienced the benefit of our Complimentary Member Clinics, we host four every month covering a wide range of topics – from mastering bunkers and putting to perfection, to chipping like Phil, and more! These sessions, lasting around 30 to 45 minutes, are not only informative but are also a fantastic way to add value to your membership while enhancing your golf skills. Don't miss out on the chance to grow your game and have a better time on the course – see you there!
“Capture the Crown” Member Trip - 2023 Crown Colony Country Club - Lufkin, TX
The Capture the Crown Member trip to Crown Colony Country Club in Lufkin was a great success. Fourteen of our Club’s finest joined Jesse and Craig for a three-day Ryder Cup style event. Outside of the fun had, relationships made and golf played, there was a close competition taking place that came down to the final holes. While mounting a late charge, Jesse Campbell’s team was not able to overcome the day one deficit and GM Craig and his team Captured the Crown by a score of 164.5 to 155.5. The winning team, pictured left included (left to right) Robert Flores, Craig Hicks, Jake Rogers, Grant Hester, Charles Bourgeois, Mitch Nyveen, Phil Christie & Spencer Pyles. Congrats guys!
