The size is 30 inches x 36 inches and this was made in grade 12. This painting was influenced by the quote “Can’t see the forest through the trees” My mom had used this quote when she was talking about someone and I liked it. It references that you are focused on one thing and not looking at the whole picture so I decided to do a nature scene with the eyes in the bushes looking out at everything.
For this painting, the element of form was somewhat achieved by the way I painted the trees with some being in the background and the one on the right being closer, also with the water by having it narrow and then flowing into a wider river. With the eyes I used balance because they are different yet equal, I also used unity because everything in the picture works together and feels like it belongs. The last element is variety because I made the eyes which are different from the rest of the painting and at first glance you might not notice them but then when you see them, it makes the artwork more interesting.
