GRASS FIELD Many jumper classes held during the HIPICO Community Show take place on our grass fields. As we want you to have the best possible horse show experience, we’d like to offer you some tips for riding on grass for those who have not experienced it before. Grass footing is considered by many to be the best footing for horse sport. As it is natural, grass conditions vary depending on moisture, grass length, time of year, usage and other natural conditions. Here are a few tips for safe riding on grass: • We suggest that you inspect the grass on the day of your ride to determine the condition. • Sign up for a class that will be a “practice” ride if you’ve never ridden on grass before. • Ride conservatively for your first round on grass, to become accustomed to these different conditions. • You also might consider asking your farrier to drill for caulks or studs. • Slow down your turns: Your horse needs to be balanced when executing quick turns, accelerating and decelerating on grass footing. There are many weather and natural situations that impact the condition of the grass. The staff at HIPICO will do everything we can to ensure the best possible conditions, but be aware that there are many factors outside of our control. With proper preparation, knowledge and equipment, competitors can enjoy our grass footing safely.

CAMPERS/RVS Hook-up costs $100 for the Community Show, to accommodate Thursday arrival through Sunday departure. A single night costs $35 each. Please reserve an RV space in advance using the RV reservation form. Please note that pump-outs are not included. The RV owner may schedule and pay for pump outs personally by contacting AAA Pumping: 505-345-3965.

SHARPS DISPOSAL Sharps containers will be provided in all barns for the disposal of needles and other disposable sharp instruments. ALL items of this nature MUST be disposed of in the provided containers. NO SHARPS are to be disposed of in any receptacle other than the provided sharps container.
