Pet owners failing to comply with this rule may be subject to penalty under Chapters 6 and 7, as well as issuance of warning cards pursuant to rule GR 301and a horse show fine of $200. In addition, pursuant to facility regulations, loose pets will be removed from the facility grounds by animal control at the owner’s expense. HANGES: Management reserves the right to change, move, cancel or combine classes, alter courses and do all C things necessary to compensate for excessive or inadequate entries. TTIRE/HEADGEAR: All riders must be properly attired. Numbers must be worn and clearly visible. Protective headgear A must be worn BY ALL RIDERS AT ALL TIMES WHILE MOUNTED, anywhere, anytime on the show grounds. Headgear for all riders must meet or exceed ASTM Standards; must carry the SEI tag; and be properly secured by a harness. J UMPERS: Ties in jumper classes will jump off for first place only. Ties for all other places will be determined by first round time. Champion and Reserve will be determined using the USEF Bonus Point system. Bonus Points will apply to the class indicated for each section. OMINATING FEE: Horses competing in all 1.20m classes and above must pay a nominating fee of $175 (unless N otherwise noted in the class description). J UMP ORDER: Show Management will determine a rotating jump order for all classes over fences. Riders or trainers with conflicts must see the paddock masters in both rings so that the necessary adjustments can be made. Starters have the authority to scratch entries that make no attempt to be timely, without going through the Steward or Show Manager. INGS/FOOTING: Grand Prix Ring is 200’ x 630’, Jumper Ring 2 is 300’ x 190’, BMW/Mini Hunter Ring 1 is 150’ x R 300’, Hunter Ring 2 is 300’ x 145’, Derby Field is 230’ x 355’ and Carino Grass Field 150’ x 630’. Footing in Hunter 1, Hunter 2 and Jumper 2 is sand composite with textile. Grand Prix Jumper Ring, Derby Field and Carino Field are grass. RASS FIELD: Many of the classes held during the HIPICO show season take place on our grass fields. Grass footing G is considered by many to be the best footing for horse sport. As it is natural, grass conditions vary depending on moisture, grass length, time of year, usage and other natural conditions. Listed below are a few tips for safe riding on the grass to help you have the best possible horse show experience.
S CHOOLING: Rings will be open for schooling on the day prior to the start of the show. To school, horses must be entered in the show office and back numbers must be displayed. Time permitting, rings may also be open before and after the show each day for hacking. Times to be posted or announced. No manual poling; no offsets of any type may be used while schooling. Jumping will be permitted in the rings at scheduled times and only when medical personnel are on the grounds. HARD HATS MUST BE WORN AT ALL TIMES WHILE MOUNTED.
• Consult with your farrier to ensure proper shoeing for competition on grass.
NIMAL WELFARE: We require that all horses be treated with kindness, respect and compassion and should never be A subject to mistreatment. Owners, trainers, riders and grooms, or their agents must use reasonable care in the handling and treatment of their horses, whether owned or placed in their care, for competition or for any other purpose. At all times, while the horse is on the show grounds, we will provide for the continuous well-being of the horse by vigorously enforcing the rules of the USEF which pertain to the welfare of the horse. USEF rules defining policy regarding abuse and use of whips will be strictly enforced. No poling, use of bamboo, off-set or excessive use of the whip will be tolerated. The well-being of the horse must be considered above the demands of the breeders, trainers, riders, owners, dealers, organizers, sponsors or officials. Violators may be subject to penalties pursuant to USEF rules. In the event of an acute and serious injury to or illness of a horse on competition grounds when the owner or trainer of the horse or agent of the owner is not present, after reasonable effort to contact that individual has been made, competition management, in consultation with a licensed equine veterinarian, may authorize the provision of emergency veterinary treatment of the horse. If competition management so authorizes treatment under the provisions of this rule, competition management and veterinarian are not liable for any resulting costs, damages, losses, claims or actions arising directly or indirectly from the treatment of the horse.
• Slow down your turns: Your horse needs to be balanced when executing quick turns, accelerating and decelerating on grass footing.
• We suggest that you inspect the grass on the day of your ride to determine the condition. • Sign up for a class that will be a “practice” ride if you’ve never ridden on grass before. • Ride conservatively for your first round on grass, to become accustomed to these different conditions.
There are many weather and natural situations that impact the condition of the grass. The staff at HIPICO will do everything we can to ensure the best possible conditions, but be aware that there are many factors outside of our control. With proper preparation, knowledge and equipment, competitors can enjoy our grass footing safely. OURSES: Courses will be posted a minimum of one hour prior to each class. In Hunter classes, fences will simulate C fences found in the hunt field such as; brush, wall, in & out, oxer, post and rails, and gates. At management’s discretion, a dotted line may be put into effect to restrict the size of the courtesy circle in hunter classes.

GENERAL RULES AND INFORMATION
OPERATION OF MOTORIZED VEHICLES: Minors who do not have a valid driver’s license which allows them to operate a motorized vehicle in the state in which they reside will not be permitted to operate a motorized vehicle of any kind including, but not limited to, golf carts, motorcycles, scooters, or farm utility vehicles on the facility grounds. Minors who have a valid temporary license may operate the above described vehicles so long as they are accompanied by an adult with a valid driver’s license. The parent(s), legal guardian(s), or individual who signs the entry blank as a parent or guardian of a minor operating a motorized vehicle in violation of this rule are solely responsible for any damages, claims, losses or actions resulting from that operation. Violations of this rule will be cause for sanctions against the parent(s), guardian(s), and/or trainer(s) who are responsible for the child committing the offense. Penalties may include exclusion of the child, parent(s), guardian(s), and/or trainer(s) from the competition grounds for the remainder of the competition and charges being filed against any of the above individuals in accordance with Chapter 6. Wheelchairs and other mobility assistance devices for individuals with disabilities are exempt from this rule.
WARNING : GRAND PRIX DE SANTA FE, LLC. (dba HIPICO SANTA FE), WELCOME WEEK, SONRISA WEEK, SANTA FE FIESTA WEEK, GRAND PRIX DE SANTA FE WEEK, QUEENIE PRODUCTIONS, LLC., ITS MANAGEMENT, OFFICERS, OWNERS, OFFICIALS, AND EMPLOYEES WILL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY ACCIDENT OR LOSS WHICH MAY OCCUR TO AN EQUINE OR HUMAN COMPETITOR, SPECTATOR, GUEST, RIDER, GROOM, ATTENDANT OR OTHER EMPLOYEE, ANIMAL, VEHICLE, OR EQUIPMENT AT THE SHOW. THIS SHALL BE A CONDITION OF ENTRY TO THE SHOW OR SHOW GROUNDS.
SHARPS DISPOSAL: Sharps containers will be provided in all barns for the disposal of needles and other disposable sharp instruments. ALL items of this nature MUST be disposed of in the provided containers. NO SHARPS are to be disposed of in any receptacle other than the provided sharps container. Any individual or entity not in compliance will be subject to a $100 fine per USEF 1210.4 RESPONSIBILITY: Submission of entry to this show constitutes an agreement to the following: Competitor agrees to indemnify and hold harmless Grand Prix de Santa Fe, LLC. (dba HIPICO Santa Fe), Queenie Productions, LLC., Welcome Week, Sonrisa Week, Santa Fe Fiesta Week, Grand Prix de Santa Fe Week management and Horse Show officials against any claims, demands, costs and expenses, including reasonable attorney fees for the defense thereof, arising from the conduct or management of Competitor’s business or its use of the premises or from any breach on the part of the Competitor of any conditions of this Agreement, or contractors, agents, employees, guests or invitees in or about the premises. In case of any action or proceeding brought against Grand Prix de Santa Fe, LLC. (dba HIPICO Santa Fe), Queenie Productions, LLC., Welcome Week, Sonrisa Week, Santa Fe Fiesta Week, Grand Prix de Santa Fe Week management and Horse Show officials, by reason of such claim, Competitor, upon notice, covenants to defend such action or proceeding by council acceptable to owner. Competitor is responsible for his/her own property and Grand prix de Santa Fe (dba HIPICO Santa Fe) HIPICO Santa Fe, Queenie Productions, LLC., Welcome Week, Sonrisa Week, Santa Fe Fiesta Week, Grand Prix de Santa Fe Week management and Horse Show officials are not responsible for accidents, fire or theft. ASSUMPTION OF RISK: By signing the entry blank, the Owner, Lessee, Trainer, Manager, Agent, Coach, Driver, Rider, Handler, Vaulter or Longeur acknowledges that horseback riding, particularly jumping, is a dangerous activity and involves inherent risks that may cause serious injury and in some cases death because of the unpredictable nature and irrational behavior of horses, regardless of their training and past performance and expressly assumes all such inherent risks whether identified herein, in the entry blank or in the Federation Rules and Regulations. A horse, without warning or any apparent cause, can buck, stumble, fall, rear, bite, kick, run, make unpredictable movements, spook, jump obstacles, step on a person’s foot, or push a person—all of which may cause the rider or observer to fall or be jolted, resulting in serious injury or death. A horse may also become loose and cause injury to an observer or rider or to another horse–a loose horse can run at full gallop in a panic and run into objects or persons or other horses. The Show Ground Facilities are bordered by highways/roads and thus noise from traffic and other sources occurs that can and will cause a horse to unexpectedly spook or react quickly. The Show Ground Facilities contain roads and driveways that are traversed by cars, golf carts, tractors, trailers and heavy equipment all of which may spook a horse. The above warnings and risks are meant as an example of some of the risks that are inherent and may be encountered but it is agreed this is not an exhaustive list and there are numerous additional conditions and/or events that may result in injuries while participating in the Competition and/or being present on the Show Ground Facilities.

I AGREE in consideration for my participation in Welcome Week, to the following: I AGREE that the "Federation" and "Competition" as used above includes all of their officials, officers, directors, employees, agents, personnel, volunteers and affiliated organizations. I AGREE that I choose to participate voluntarily in the Competition with my horse, as a rider, driver, handler, vaulter, longeur, lessee, owner, agent, coach, trainer, or as parent or guardian of a junior exhibitor. I am fully aware and acknowledge that horse sports and the Competition involve inherent dangerous risks of accident, loss, and serious bodily injury including broken bones, head injuries, trauma, pain, suffering, or death. (“Harm”). I AGREE to hold harmless and release the Federation and the Competition from all claims for money damages or otherwise for any Harm to me or my horse and for any Harm of any nature caused by me or my horse to others, even if the Harm arises or results, directly or indirectly, from the negligence of the Federation or the Competition. I AGREE to expressly assume all risks of Harm to me or my horse, including Harm resulting from the negligence of the Federation or the Competition. I AGREE to indemnify (that is, to pay any losses, damages, or costs incurred by) the Federation and the Competition and to hold them harmless with respect to claims for Harm to me or my horse, and for claims made by others for any Harm caused by me or my horse while at the Competition. I have read the Federation Rules about protective equipment, including GR801 and, if applicable, EV114, and I understand that I am entitled to wear protective equipment without penalty, and I acknowledge that the Federation strongly encourages me to do so while WARNING that no protective equipment can guard against all injuries.
