The Concordia University Cavaliers (15-11, 9-7 CCC) split their last weekend out against Corban and Northwest Christian, 66-70 and 81-76 respectively. Their loss dropped them in the CCC rankings where they currently sit sixth in conference. Concordia’s loss also cost them their four game win streak. The Cavaliers are currently ranked no. 3 in Div. 2 in points per game and no. 5 in total scoring.

The Warner Pacific University Knights (22-2, 13-3 CCC) are one win behind Eastern in conference play. Warner Pacific’s last weekend out they swept Northwest Christian and Corban increasing their win streak to four. The team is currently ranked no. 4 in Div. 2 in free throw percentage and no. 7 in total three-point field goals made.

ABOUT THE CONFERENCE The regular season enters its final weekend with plenty yet to be decided as the 2012-13 Cascade Conference schedule reaches a crescendo. The game of the week will take place in Portland on Friday night as first-place Eastern Oregon visits second-place Warner Pacific with the top seed in the CCC tournament potentially at stake. College of Idaho will also be in Portland, taking on Concordia on Friday as the Yotes look to secure a home playoff date. Corban and Northwest Christian head to Southern Oregon and Oregon Tech to wrap up the regular season while Evergreen will head north on Saturday evening, taking on Northwest to wrap up the regular season. THE LAST TIME THEY MET... Dec. 1, 2012 La Grande, Ore. - The Eastern Oregon University men’s basketball team (14-0, 2-0 CCC) picked up their 14th straight win over Warner Pacific (7-3, 1-1 CCC) College in cascade conference play tonight 61-59. Jason Mumm would lead all scorers with 24 points and 8 rebounds. Anthony Brown would finish with 10 points and 9 rebounds. Warner Pacific was led by Coletun Tarr with 18 points. Stephen Harris and Doug Thomas would finish 17 and 13 points respectively. Eastern led by as much as 16 in the first half and went into half time up 38-28. Both teams shot fairly well from the field in the first half. The Mountaineers shot 45% (15-33) to Warner Pacific’s 44% (12-27).

THE LAST TIME OUT ...

La Grande, Ore- The Eastern Oregon men’s basketball team lost a hard fought game to College of Idaho by a score of 83-82, tonight at Quinn Coliseum. Senior Anthony Brown led the Mountaineers with 23 points and 12 rebounds. Trent Roos finished with 10 points and 2 assists, while Zach Anderson added 10 points and 3 rebounds.

In an evenly matched first half there were 8 different lead changes and 6 ties. The Yotes came out strong and would build a seven point lead six minutes into the game. Midway through the half the Yotes still led, 23-19, but Eastern would fight back and head into the locker room only trailing by one, 41-42.

With just over a minute to play EOU led by one as Mumm would go to the free throw line to put the Mountaineers up three, 80-77. On the ensuing possession EOU fouled C of I’s Pruett sending him to the charity stripe where he would knock down both free throws. With C of I down one, the Mountaineers came up short on a jumper and the Yotes responded with a quick rebound and lay-up to put them up one, 81-80, with 28 seconds left to play. After a quick time out by Eastern, EOU’s Brown came out and scored with 7.8 seconds remaining to retake the lead, 82-81. On the final possession C of I inbounded the ball under EOU’s basket and Ben Van Lith would go the full length of the court and score the go ahead basket with 2 seconds on the clock, giving the Yotes an 83-82 victory.

Eastern shot 15-of-34 (44%) from the field in the first half and 6-of-12 (50%) from behind the arc. College of Idaho shot 15-of-29 (51%) from the field and 8-of-11 (72%) from downtown.

EOU finished the night shooting 29-of-65 (44%) from the field and 12-of-27 (44%) from behind the arc. C of I shot 30-of-57 (52%) from the field and 11-of-21 (52%) from the three-point line.
