Travellers’ Oasis
Quriyat-Sur Rest Area, located in the proximity of the touristic site of Sinkhole is the pilot project in Omran’s innovative “Rest Areas” concept, to develop a nationwide network of rest areas along Oman’s main roads and highways. Design In 2013 design package one, which consists of a retail building, ROP office, drivers’ tea kiosk, service building and road works, was completed and designs for package two, consisting of staff accommodation and a 2-3 star motel, were initiated and are in progress. Design package 3, consisting of the fuel station, will be delivered by the operator.
Tendering During the year, package 1 was tendered and the contract was awarded. Construction Construction began on September 18th, 2013 with project completion scheduled for Q1 2015. Quality, Health, Safety and Environment (QHSE) The project undergoes a monthly HSE inspection and was QHSE Audited in December. To date there have been zero lost time injuries.
