As a writer, I write to different music. If I’m writing a romantic fiction, there may be smooth jazz or soft music playing. If I’m writing an inspirational, devotional, I may have gospel music playing. If I’m writing for business, I may not have any music playing because I really want to focus. But my entire life has a rhythm. My heart has a beat and often skips a beat if I am really excited about a project or an upcoming event. I like moving at a steady pace and don’t take enough time to slow down. Why? Because the rhythm and movement of my life keeps me alive, thinking, growing, moving and learning.

There are times when I do have a slower pace or a time of reflection, soft music in the background not pushing me to go fast like the music on an elevator. I can easily ignore that but what I like most, is the grand fast rhythms of somewhere to be, something to do and possibly even a problem to solve quickly so I can proceed with confidence to the next successful venture.

Have you ever been to a Mexican or Cuban restaurant where the music has a fast, syncopated beat playing while you wait for your table or for the server to bring your food? You can’t help but sway from side to side or move to the beat of the music. So take some time to reflect on your life right now, what does the rhythm of your life feel like? Based on various styles of music, are you moving slowly like classical music or fast paced and syncopated like Spanish or Caribbean music? Does your life seem spastic and feel like you’re bouncing off the walls with no clear beginning, middle and end lacking a verse, chorus and hook like electronic music? Or is your life’s rhythm stuck in the blues?

Everything that could go wrong has gone wrong and everyone has left me and I feel so alone. The rhythm of life shows up in how you live, how you speak, what’s on your calendar and how you spend your time and definitely shows up in how you spend your money. So how are you moving to the rhythm of your life? Remember to feel the rhythm, get in the flow of the beat, understand that every day won’t be perfect so sometimes you have to change the music to fit where you are or where you are going but, let the music take you to the Best Life You Ever Thought Possible. Let’s go!
