My First Year Overseas

By Travis W Reed Host of Athletes Journey travisreed375@yahoo.com

Welcome back to part two of my First Year Overseas. My first year it was crazy ! Let’s start off where we left off ! Now if you remember I was on the plane from Warsaw , Poland back to California. I received an emergency phone call to get me off the plane and I am scared that I did something wrong. I take the phone call and it was my agent saying I have another job for you in France. So I get my things off of the plane and go to the gate on the flight to France.

I check my bags and they say my bags are to heavy to go to France without paying extra money. Now at the time I didn’t have any money because the team from Poland did not pay me. So I was told by my agent dont worry the team in France will get your bag just take your tennis shoes and get on the flight. So I left my bag with my clothes pictures of my family and a ton of stuff at the airport in Poland and went to France with the clothes on my back my Playstation and the shoes on my feet. I get to France & they gave me a car so I was happy about that unlike Poland but it was a stick shift so I couldn’t drive it so it sat in my garage. The washing machine I had in my place was in french so I didn’t know how to work it so I had to hand wash my stuff everyday. Also there was another American there on a try out as well so I had to go against him everyday as well. So imagine another person livelihood and dream is on the line just like yours for the same position and you are in a game wanting him not to fall but don’t do as good as you. By the way my bag is still in Poland!

Imagine being away from home not being able to talk to family , friends or anyone for support. I was on my own or so I thought . Be sure to get the next issue of Envision Magazine ( October 2023 ) For more about my Athletes Journey Overseas!
