Foreword
Photographyisabeautifulartformthatallowsusto witness,captureandpreservemomentsintime.Forme, oneofthemostexcitingandchallenginggenresof photographyisstreetphotography(SP).Itisbotha scienceandartofseeingandmakingcandidmoments ofpeople,places,andthingsinpublicspaces.
Ifyou,dearviewer,is enthusiastic aboutstreet photographyjustasIam,thenyouknowthatittakesa lotofcommitment,practice,andpatiencetomake strongimages.However,nomatterhowskilledyouand Iare,thereISALWAYSroomforimprovement.
Thislearningmindsetiswhyin2022,IfromDavaoCity, DavaodelSur,Mindanao,invitedRowellTimoteo,from LaUnion,IlocosregioninLuzon;MarcLozano, Leganes,Iloilo,WesternVisayastoembarkona52Weekstreetphotographyproject.
Ourgoalwastochallengeourselvesandimproveour knowledge,skills,andattitudetowardsSPwhereweare inthePhilippinesconnectedonlybytheinternet.
Theassignmentissometimessimplebutoftenquite challenging.Eachweek,wewillselectaspecifictheme
oratechnique,andeveryonewillhavetotakeanumber ofimagesatdifferentlocationsandtimethatsatisfiesthe brief.Thisiswithafirmconditionthatwewillnotbe postingandsharingourimagesuntilafterayear.
Allowingustofocusontheassignmentandimproving ourskillswithoutthepressureassociatedwithsocial media.
Asaresultofthisproject,wedevelopedadeeper understandingoftheprocessofstreetphotography, learnednewtechniques,andgainedinsightsfromeach otherthroughonlinechatsanddiscussions.Webelieved thatthisjourneydidnotonlyenhanceourskillsbutalso strengthenedourbondsasfriends.
Thisissueisthefirstoftwelve,consistingofanaverage offourweekseach.Wehopethatourjourneywillinspire otherphotographerstoembarkinthisadventureofselfimprovementandexploration.
