Across our Trust, the Parent, Teacher, and Friends Associations (PTFAs) have been working tirelessly to support our schools and enrich the experiences of our pupils Their dedication and enthusiasm shine through in every event they organise, from seasonal celebrations to ongoing fundraising efforts
During Term 3 and 4, many of our PTFAs have delighted children with pop-up shops for Mother’s Day, giving pupils the opportunity to choose special gifts for their mums or mother figures They have also been at the heart of fundraising activities linked to Valentine’s Day and World Book Day, ensuring these occasions are extra special while raising valuable funds for their schools School discos, always a highlight for pupils, have been made possible thanks to their efforts, with Borden’s PTFA not only supporting their school disco but also running a pop-up preloved uniform shop, making affordable schoolwear available for families.
At The Oaks, the PTFA has gone above and beyond, funding an incredible African Dance Workshop for the whole school, providing fantastic geography resources, and supporting each class with a small spends pot to enhance learning experiences. They have also organised an Easter Trail at the local park for half term, bringing the community together for a fun seasonal celebration
As the term draws to a close, the PTFAs are busy preparing for Easter, organising exciting activities for the children to enjoy

Community BrewMonday20January
A Warm Cup of Connection: On 20 January, pupils, parents, carers, and staff across our Trust joined together for Brew Monday, a day dedicated to reaching out, connecting, and checking in on one another’s well-being Across our schools, simple moments turned into meaningful opportunities for connection a quick chat at the start of a staff meeting, a shared cuppa in the staffroom, thoughtful conversations during assembly, or a warm exchange on the playground at the end of the school day
The idea behind Brew Monday is simple but powerful: taking time to pause, share, and listen. These small yet significant interactions fostered a sense of support and empathy For many, it was a moment to open up about how they were feeling; for others, it was a reminder that even the briefest connection can make a difference Pupils embraced the day with a warm hot chocolate drink and celebrated kindness and encouraged conversation. Staff facilitated moments of connection, whether through group discussions or simply being present and approachable Parents and carers joined in, strengthening bonds within their school communities through shared smiles and supportive words
One parent shared, “It’s so lovely to have a moment to slow down and feel part of something. Sometimes, a little kindness and a listening ear can make all the difference” A staff member added, “These moments remind us of the importance of looking out for one another It’s about creating a culture of care” Brew Monday was more than just a cup of tea; it was a celebration of the values of Community, Compassion, and Inclusion that define our Trust By weaving moments of connection into the rhythm of the day, we are fostering an environment where well-being is prioritised, and everyone feels seen and valued As the day came to a close, the spirit of kindness and togetherness remained a reminder that small acts of care can leave a lasting impact Thank you to everyone who participated and made Brew Monday such a special day
Children’sMentalHealthAwarenessWeek
3-9February
Supporting Wellbeing in Our Schools
Our schools came together to take part in Children’s Mental Health Awareness Week, embracing the theme "Know Yourself, Grow Yourself." Helping children understand their emotions, recognise their strengths, and develop resilience is at the core of everything we do
Across our Trust, pupils have been engaging in a variety of activities that promote self-awareness and wellbeing From art projects exploring identity to pupil bingo fostering connections, our schools have provided meaningful opportunities for children to reflect on what makes them unique, what helps them grow, and how they can support one another
We’ve also been learning ways to help children manage strong emotions. For example, many have practised finger breathing, a simple technique to calm down when feeling overwhelmed, and thinking of people they love to bring comfort in challenging moments. Some children even made their own calm bottles a fun and effective way to help regulate emotions when things feel a bit too much
Through assemblies, discussions, and creative tasks, we’re ensuring that conversations about mental health start early and continue long after this week By prioritising mental health and emotional wellbeing, we are helping our pupils develop the confidence and skills they need to thrive not just in school, but in life

SaferInternetDay2025
Protecting Ourselves and Others Online
On 11 February, pupils across our Trust joined schools nationwide in celebrating Safer Internet Day, the UK’s biggest campaign for online safety. This year’s theme, "Too Good to Be True? Protecting Yourself and Others from Scams Online," encouraged children to think critically about what they see online and how to stay safe in the digital world
From interactive assemblies and quizzes to classroom discussions and hands-on activities, our schools explored the importance of spotting misleading information, online scams, and fraudulent messages Pupils learned how to recognise red flags, report concerns, and support friends and family in staying safe online
With tailored resources for all age groups, younger children engaged in story-based learning, while older pupils tackled real-world case studies to develop their digital resilience. In one session, Year 1 pupils at The Oaks Infant School shared their own top tips, including “Tell a grown-up if you’re worried,” “Never share your name,” “Don’t have too much screen time,” and “Always ask a grown-up” These valuable conversations help build the confidence to navigate the online world safely. By taking part in Safer Internet Day 2025, our pupils are developing the skills to make informed choices, question what they see online, and protect themselves and others in an increasingly digital age

GuinnessWorldRecordHolders!
Pupils at Lydd Primary School have officially made history! Back in October, KS2 pupils took part in a Guinness World Record attempt for the world’s largest poetry lesson, led by poet Laura Mucha. After months of careful evidence checking, we are delighted to share that the attempt was successful – Lydd pupils are now record breakers! The poetry lesson, which involved schools from across the country, was an exciting opportunity for pupils to develop their love of poetry while being part of something truly special The challenge required strict guidelines to be followed, with official observers ensuring everything met Guinness World Record standards. The anticipation was high as pupils waited for confirmation, and now they can proudly say they’ve helped set a new world record! A huge well done to everyone involved –what an amazing achievement!
The School Council at Milstead & Frinsted CE Primary School has been making their voices heard on an issue close to home the proposed Highsted Park development in Sittingbourne. Passionate about their local environment and community, the pupils have been asking important questions about how the development might impact their area and they are determined to make a difference.
To help them better understand the potential changes, the Parish Council visited the school to discuss the plans, sparking even greater enthusiasm among the pupils Inspired by what they learned, the School Council is now looking to collaborate with other school councils across Our Community Multi Academy Trust particularly those in areas affected by the development The school council continue to be impassioned about this development, and last week, they presented a balanced argument about the proposed development to the whole school, demonstrating their commitment to representing pupil voices Their goal? To raise awareness and take action. The children have ambitious plans to design posters (see overleaf for their first poster), write letters to local MPs, and even organise a peaceful protest to share their concerns. They want to ensure that young voices are part of the conversation about the future of their community
To offer a balanced perspective, Quinn Estates, the developers behind the project, have also been invited to speak with the children though the school is still awaiting a response
This initiative showcases the power of pupil voice in real-world issues and highlights how young people can be active citizens, standing up for their communities. With their determination and teamwork, these pupils are proving that no voice is too small to make a big impact
Bredgar CE Primary School is celebrating a fantastic outcome in its recent Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools (SIAMS) The inspection, held on 4 March 2025, praised the school’s strong Christian ethos, nurturing environment, and commitment to helping every child thrive.

A rich curriculum, ensuring all children, including those with SEND, can succeed.

TopTipsfor Parents
Read together. Whether your child is discovering picture books or reading independently, sharing stories will give you a chance to spend valuable time together, relax and bond over things you both find interesting.
Find time to share stories Life is busy! But if you can try and find 10 minutes a day to read with your child, no matter their age, it can make a big difference. Choosing the same time to share stories each day will help reading become a normal part of your daily routine
Bring stories to life. It can sometimes feel embarrassing to do but your child will love you using different voices and sound effects to bring stories to life Research has shown that listening to audiobooks together is another great way to experience lively storytelling, as well as to encourage reading and enhance reading enjoyment
All reading counts. Tapping into your children’s interests is a great way to get them reading, learning and having fun If they love football, read the sports pages of a newspaper together; if they love dinosaurs, find a roar-some magazine to explore; or if they enjoy baking, find a recipe book or visit an online recipe page If you go out to eat let them read the menu, and read song lyrics
Let children take ownership of their reading Discuss their likes and dislikes – let them know it is okay to not finish a book if they are not enjoying it. Move on and choose a different one.
Draw attention to, and talk about, all aspects of reading Try to talk about stories, settings, characters and the plot. Ask them about what they have been reading at school. Are there any other books by the same author that they could get from the school library? Build intrigue and excitement! Let your children see you as a reader – talk about the book that you are reading, what the characters are doing, where it is set and the plot
TV Subtitles – turn these on when your child is watching their favourite film or television programme. Try to give books as presents – put a spotlight on how wonderful they are
Read anywhere – enable your child to read in whichever location is comfortable for them. It doesn’t have to just be on the sofa or in bed!
Find inspiration at your local library. Discover a wide range of free books, e-books, audiobooks, comics and more to borrow and take , as well as engaging events for the whole family to enjoy.

Maths Week ended on a high with our brilliant Maths Café, where pupils put their problem-solving skills to the test Throughout the week, they enjoyed inter-house competitions, a special assembly exploring maths in the real world and the world of work, and hands-on activities applying mathematical concepts to art and cooking It was a fantastic way to see maths in action and celebrate the many ways we use numbers every day!
The children have been developing their understanding of the world by exploring the city of Paris, learning about its rich culture, famous landmarks, and delicious cuisine
The children have been learning all about seeds and what they need to germinate As part of their exploration, they planted sunflowers in the school's sensory garden, carefully considering how sunlight, water, and soil help a seed grow Over the coming weeks, they will be observing and recording the sunflowers' growth, deepening their understanding of plant life cycles in a hands-on and exciting way!
Selling Church of England Primary School
The past two terms have been full of exciting experiences at Selling CE Primary School. A highlight was attending the Young Voices concert at the O2, where the children performed alongside thousands of others. They’ve also been exploring poetry, sharing different types, and getting creative in the classroom
Outdoor learning has been a key focus, with pupils attending Forest School to use tools like palm drills, whittling knives, and hammers. They also visited Perry Woods to study trees, leaves, and animal prints, and enjoyed a trip to Hastings Aquarium, followed by some fun on the beach During Children’s Mental Health Week, the children learned about "Know ourselves to grow ourselves" and explored emotions in a supportive environment The children have also been busy with Science Week, making fossils using clay, and had a visit from Kent Police to learn about online safety They’ve enjoyed World Book Day, explored fairy tales with puppet-making, and learned a Roman dance, focusing on pace, rhythm, balance, and sequencing It’s been an action-packed few months at Selling, and there’s plenty more to look forward to!
Perform visited Reception and KS1 for an exciting workshop called "Splash: A Deep Sea Adventure" The children explored the wonders of the ocean through drama, immersing themselves in the magic of the underwater world. It was a fun and creative way to learn about marine life while developing their dramatic skills!
A huge congratulations to our Year 6 pupils who recently took part in a maths competition at St Edmund's School and came out victorious! Their teamwork, problem-solving skills, and determination truly shone through, and we are incredibly proud of their achievement Well done to all involved!
Year 5 pupils very recently took part in a shared worship event in Faversham, joining other local Church schools for a special gathering With great courage, the children took to the stage to act out the Parable of the Unforgiving Servant, bringing the story to life in front of a large audience It was a wonderful opportunity for them to grow in confidence and share an important message about kindness and forgiveness.
