Day Camp & Teen Club Spectacular Summer Day Camp!

May 28 - August 16 at the DISC Spend time with your friends at the DISC’s activity-filled camp that combines nature, recreation, and sports! You’ll take field trips and participate in fun activities. You can also create-a-camp by adding your favorite Park District programs like Zoo Kids, Zoo Crew, First Tee Golf, B.O.S.S. and Greater Decatur Youth Band! Designed for youth aged 5 - 11. Airport Fun Day! Soar to new heights at the Decatur Airport’s Fun Day on Saturday, May 25! View a display by the Army National Guard, climb aboard the Park District’s Striker emergency vehicle, and enjoy a pancake breakfast sponsored by the Experimental Aircraft Association. Sounds of Summer Concert! Head to downtown Central Park for a musical lunch outdoors with the Decatur Park District’s Sounds of Summer Concert! The Decatur Park Singers, Young Park Singers, and B.O.S.S. performers will be on stage entertaining the audience with favorite tunes from their shows. Tuesday Night Park Runs

Head to Fairview for a Tuesday night run in the park! This weekly event includes a half-mile Tot Trot, one-mile Fun Run or various distances up to seven miles. Golf First Tee Golf Camp

Get into the swing of golf with this 4-day, week-long camp! Beginners focus on coordination, simple techniques and motor skills. More advanced players take their swing to the next level, with golf pros on hand to further develop each individual’s game. Learn from some of the world’s best women golfers right here in Decatur! The Decatur-Forsyth Classic, presented by Tate & Lyle and the Decatur Park District, runs June 14 - 16 at Hickory Point Golf Course. Family Golf Night/Pro Tips

Just for parents, grandparents and their children and grandchildren, Family Night presented by Earthmover Credit Union provides a low-key instructional environment for all skill levels. Golf pros are available on the driving range and putting green; plus you’ll have all the range balls you can hit! First Tee junior golfers are encouraged to attend. Family Fun Days

Beginning May 18, on weekends and holidays after 2:30 p.m., families can play 9 holes with a cart at all courses for just $30 a foursome, $25 a threesome, or $20 a two-some. MidState Soccer Club

Play, train and excel with MidState Soccer Club! Led by U.S. Soccer Federation nationally certified coaches, the club program is designed for more serious players who want to train and advance their skills throughout the year. Club teams play 6 - 8 games in the Central Illinois Youth Soccer League and compete in 2 - 3 tournaments each season. Players also experience the revolutionary iSoccer program using standardized testing, web technology, and competitive learning to drive positive, objective, individualized results.

That’s Entertainment will feature the Decatur Park District’s dance students, aged 3 through adult. Tale Spin Age 3 - 5 Each week, participants will explore the aspects of a storybook using their five senses. Our favorite tales will be performed on the last day of class. Ready for the Stage! Grades K - 2 This fun, interactive class helps kids sharpen the tools in their “acting toolbox” and covers all topics related to theatre. Theatre of Possibility Grades 1 - 5 This unique class is for students with ADHD or who are on the autism spectrum. Putting It Together Grades 3 - 6 Students will develop skills in vocal work, character creation, ensemble building, and stage movement. Lights! Camera! Action! Grades 6 - 12 This class will introduce actors to the skills necessary for on-camera work and auditions.

Dance Class Descriptions

Intro classes are designed for 3 & 4 year-olds with playful games that enhance the child’s coordination and introduce basic ballet concepts. Kinder classes are designed for 5 - 6 year-olds, introducing them to the fundamental skills of jazz, tap, and/or ballet. Classes for 1st - 4th graders challenge new and continuing dance students in jazz, hip hop, tap, and ballet. Instruction includes warmups, across-the-floor learning, terminology, and dance combinations applying these new skills. Classes for 5th - 8th graders focus on advancing students’ motor skills. Ballet, jazz/hip hop, lyrical, and tap classes will begin with a warm-up or barre to develop flexibility and strength. Instruction will continue the development of the young dancer with across-thefloor exercises and center technique, ending with a dance routine. Advanced classes (*) in modern, lyrical, ballet, pointe, and tap are for experienced dancers and are by teacher placement only. Classes are designed to be challenging and invigorating; building on technique, terminology, flexibility, and strength.

Greater Decatur Youth Band

You don’t have to wait until fall to perform with the band! Tune up with friends in the Greater Decatur Youth Band. This program is designed for instrumentalists who are looking for superior summer instruction and a chance to perform at various special events. Dr. Gary Shaw, MU Director of Bands, directs. Cookin’ with the Chorale

June 1 & 2 • 6 p.m. Fairview Park Pavilion #1 Picnic in the park and enjoy a performance by the Greater Decatur Chorale. Directed by Cyndi Johnson, the Chorale features over 80 talented vocalists and the Decatur Park Singers Band! This event is free and open to the public. Concessions and hot grills for cooking will be available at 5 p.m. Special guests include the Decatur Park Singers and Young Park Singers.

Best of Summer Stock (B.O.S.S.)

Everyone is a star in B.O.S.S. musical theatre camps! Participants will sing, dance and act as they bring a musical to life! Actors will learn teamwork, musical theatre technique, and skills in preparation for an exciting final show with sets, costumes, props and lights. Each camp is directed by our professional, experienced musical theatre staff. The program is directed by Marie Jagger-Taylor. Registration ends June 7. Junior Lifeguard Program

Want to be a lifeguard? Ellis lifeguards will put you through the paces as you learn techniques necessary to be a real lifeguard at age 16! You’ll receive instruction in water safety, lifeguarding and leadership skills, facility operations, teamwork, First Aid, and CPR. Following successful completion of the course, students will receive a certificate and tee-shirt. For ages 9 - 15 (must be able to swim the length of the pool).
