INTENTIONS

Leen Vandereyken Writer She started as an actress before she became a fulltime creative writer. She has written several books and works as a ghostwriter for publishers, translates children books and provided creative content for the production company Studio 100. ‘The Hoarder’ will be her first screenplay to be filmed.

The Hoarder is a dark visual poem with shreds of absurdity dealing with loss, guilt and punishment as the main leitmotifs. It’s about a woman who is tormented by guilt, consumed by loss. To deal with these emotions she develops an obsessive compulsive hoarding behavior. Hoarding gives her a temporary relief from guilt while keeping her deep emotional connection with her daughter alive.

Frederik De Wilde Director He is an interdisciplinary artist acting on the border of art science and technology. His experimental short Sievert Rising combines found footage and computer generated 3D visuals made with custom open source software for artistic data visualization. His most famous art project is the Blackest-Black in collaboration with NASA.

After 20 years of hoarding she created a world wherein she can survive. It is an imaginary world in a terribly cluttered, yet fascinating, house which functions simultaneously as a mausoleum, a moving labyrinth, a safe-zone and a trap wherein she can hide and deal with her emotions. We are fascinated by eccentric characters and outsiders like hoarders. After seeing countless TV programs about this subject, we found ourselves intrigued by the discrepancy between their perceived reality and the tragic situation they live in. Through a cinematographic experience we want to reveal something deeper and more complex of their psyche, behavior, and by extension consumer society.
