KIT OF PARTS EMILIA TUDOR

The Kit of Parts project was a fun and interesting way to test my creativity as well as my attention to detail- two very important elements in the world of Architecture.

I started off my project with a ‘go with the flow’ sort of approach. I didn’t have a particular method as I wanted to experiment with the different cardboard pieces and question the ways they can fit together.

I was interested in trying to create window-like structures in my models. I liked the idea that when you looked through the ‘window’, there would be layers of different shapes and spaces.

I felt that my models were becoming slightly boxy. I therefore wanted to focus on creating individual spaces (rooms in some respects) rather than one whole model.

I also liked the idea of having a roof on my model- but I didn’t want it to be enclosed and hidden. My intent for my final model was to have elements of a roof but not a block piece of card.

My chosen model consists of all the things I had considered when creating my other models. It has window-like structures to allow light/space. It has a roof- like structure, however is is not fully enclosed. Finally, I also considered ways of creating lots of spaces together, rather than one single space.
