Welcome to Holly Days 2025!

Season’s Greetings from the Sandwich Chamber of Commerce

As we enter this season of reflection and gratitude, we are reminded of the strength and fellowship that define our Chamber members and the broader Sandwich community. This year, we came together in remarkable ways— supporting a fellow business owner who suffered the loss of a restaurant to fire, and standing by our neighbors, friends, and families through challenging times. The holiday season offers us another opportunity to extend that same spirit of generosity to those in need.

The Sandwich Chamber is proud to continue our longstanding holiday traditions, including the Shop Sandwich First Holiday Market on November 6 at The Sagamore Inn and the Community Carol Sing on December 5 at The First Church. Four years ago, we introduced the Village Stroll—held this year on December 7 along Jarves and Main Streets—which has quickly become a cherished community event marking the joyful beginning of the holiday season.

Thank you to our sponsors: This Holiday Season, Invest in Your Business!

As you prepare for the holidays, we encourage you to shop locally and support the businesses that give so much back to our community throughout the year. Our local retailers and restaurants not only provide exceptional products and services, but also contribute generously to youth programs, senior initiatives, and nonprofit organizations. Without their steadfast support, many of our community programs would not have the resources they need to thrive.

On behalf of the Sandwich Chamber of Commerce, I extend my warmest wishes to you and your families for a joyous holiday season and a prosperous New Year.

With sincere appreciation, Heidi Trottier

Pecan Crescent Cookies HOLIDAY RECIPES

Ingredients

1 cup pecans

½ pound (2 sticks) unsalted butter at room temperature

¼ cup granulated sugar

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 ½ cups powdered sugar

1. Preheat the oven to 300 degrees.

2. In a food processor, pulse the pecans until the nuts become the texture of coarse sand.

3. Add in the butter, granulated sugar, flour, and vanilla. Pulse until the dough pulls away from the sides of the bowl and forms a ball.

4. Remove the dough from the machine and place in a mixing bowl.

5. Grabbing about one tablespoon at a time, form the dough into small crescent shapes. The cookies should be about one inch long. Roll the crescents in powdered sugar and place on an ungreased baking sheet.

6. Bake the Pecan Crescents for 30 to 40 minutes.

7. Once the cookies are out of the oven and cooled, roll a second time in powdered sugar.

America the Beautiful

O Beautiful for spacious skies

For amber waves of grain, For purple mountain majesties

Above the fruited plain!

America! America!

God shed his grace on thee

And crown thy good with brotherhood

From sea to shining sea!

O Come, All Ye Faithful

O come, all ye faithful, Joyful and triumphant, O come ye, O come ye to Bethlehem; Come and behold him, born the King of angels; O come, let us adore him, O come, let us adore him, O come, let us adore him, Christ the Lord. Sing, choirs of angels, Sing in exultation, Sing, all ye citizens of heaven above; Glory to God, all glory in the highest; (Refrain)

O Christmas Tree

O Christmas Tree, O Christmas tree

Thy leaves are so unchanging

O Christmas Tree, O Christmas tree

Thy leaves are so unchanging

Not only green when summer’s here

But also when it’s cold and drear

O Christmas Tree, O Christmas tree

Thy leaves are so unchanging

Joy to the World

Joy to the world! the Lord is come; Let earth receive her King;

Let every heart prepare Him room, and heaven and nature sing, and heaven and nature sing, and heaven, and heaven and nature sing.

Joy to the earth! the Savior reigns; Let men their songs employ; while fields and floods, rocks, hills and plains

Repeat the sounding joy, Repeat the sounding joy, Repeat, repeat the sounding joy.

Hark! The Herald Angels Sing

Hark! the herald angels sing, Glory to the new-born King! Peace on earth and mercy mild, God and sinners reconciled!

Joyful, all ye nations, rise, Join the triumph of the skies; With th’ angelic host proclaim Christ is born in Bethlehem!

Hark! the herald angels sing Glory to the new-born King! Christ, by highest heaven adored; Christ, the everlasting Lord; Late in time behold him come, Offspring of the Virgin’s womb. Veiled in flesh the Godhead see; Hail the incarnate Deity, Pleased as man with man to dwell; Jesus, our Emmanuel! (Refrain)

The First Noel

The first Noel the angel did say Was to certain poor shepherds in fields as they lay; In fields as they lay, keeping their sheep, On a cold winter’s night that was so deep. Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel, Born is the King of Israel. They looked up and saw a star

Shining in the east beyond them far, And to the earth it gave great light, And so it continued both day and night.

(Refrain)

Oh Little Town of Bethlehem

O little town of Bethlehem, How still we see thee lie!

Above thy deep and dreamless sleep

The silent stars go by; Yet in thy dark streets shineth

The everlasting Light; The hopes and fears of all the years Are met in thee to-night.

For Christ is born of Mary, And gathered all above, While mortals sleep, the angels keep Their watch of wondering love.

O morning stars, together

Proclaim the holy birth!

And praises sing to God the King, And peace to men on earth.

Silver Bells

City sidewalks, busy sidewalks

Dressed in holiday style

In the air there’s a feeling of Christmas Children laughing, people passing, Meeting smile after smile

And on ev’ry street corner you’ll hear

Silver bells, silver bells

It’s Christmas time in the city

Ring-a-ling, hear them sing

Soon it will be Christmas day

Strings of street lights, even stop lights

Blink a bright red and green, As the shoppers rush home with their treasures

Hear the snow crunch,

See the kids bunch

This is Santa’s big scene, and above all this bustle you’ll hear: (Refrain)

Deck the Halls

Deck the halls with boughs of holly,

Fa la la la la, la la la la.

‘Tis the season to be jolly,

Fa la la la la, la la la la.

Don we now our gay apparel,

Fa la la, la la la, la la la.

Troll the ancient Yuletide carol,

Fa la la la la, la la la la.

See the blazing Yule before us,

Fa la la la la, la la la la.

Strike the harp and join the chorus.

Fa la la la la, la la la la.

Follow me in merry measure,

Fa la la la la, la la la la.

While I tell of Yuletide treasure.

Fa la la la la, la la la la.

White Christmas

I’m dreaming of a white Christmas

Just like the ones I used to know

Where the treetops glisten, and children listen

To hear sleigh bells in the snow

I’m dreaming of a white Christmas

With every Christmas card I write

May your days be merry and bright

And may all your Christmases be white

Winter Wonderland

Sleigh bells ring, are you listening, in the lane, snow is glistening

A beautiful sight, We’re happy tonight.

Walking in a winter wonderland.

Gone away is the bluebird, Here to stay is a new bird

He sings a love song,

As we go along,

Walking in a winter wonderland.

In the meadow we can build a snowman, And pretend that he is Parson Brown

He’ll say: are you married?

We’ll say: no man,

But you can do the job

When you’re in town. Later on, we’ll conspire, As we dream by the fire

To face unafraid,

The plans that we’ve made, Walking in a winter wonderland.

In the meadow we can build a snowman, And pretend that he’s a circus clown

We’ll have lots of fun with Mister Snowman

Until the other kids knock him down. When it snows, ain’t it thrilling, Though your nose gets a chilling

We’ll frolic and play, the Eskimo way

Walking in a winter wonderland.

Jingle Bells

Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way!

O what fun it is to ride in a one-horse open sleigh

Dashing through the snow, in a one-horse open sleigh

Over the fields we go, laughing all the way;

Bells on bob-tail ring, making spirits bright

What fun it is to ride and sing a sleighing song tonight

Oh - (Refrain)

A day or two ago, I thought I’d take a ride

And soon Miss Fanny Bright, was seated by my side; The horse was lean and lank, misfortune seemed his lot; He got into a drifted bank and we got upsot.

Oh - (Refrain)

Away in a Manger

I Have a Little Dreidel

I have a little dreidel. I made it out of clay. And when it's dry and ready, then dreidel I shall play.

Oh dreidel, dreidel, dreidel, I made it out of clay.

Oh dreidel, dreidel, dreidel, then dreidel I shall play.

It has a lovely body, with legs so short and thin. When it gets all tired, it drops and then I win!

Dreidel, dreidel, dreidel, with legs so short and thin.

Oh dreidel, dreidel, dreidel, it drops and then I win!

My dreidel's always playful. It loves to dance and spin. A happy game of dreidel, come play now, let's begin. Oh dreidel, dreidel, dreidel, it loves to dance and spin. Oh dreidel, dreidel, dreidel, come play now, let's begin.

I have a little dreidel. I made it out of clay. When it's dry and ready, then dreidel I shall play.

Oh dreidel, dreidel, dreidel, I made it out of clay.

Oh dreidel, dreidel, dreidel, then dreidel I shall play.

Away in a manger, no crib for his bed, the little Lord Jesus laid down his sweet head. The stars in the bright sky looked down where he lay, The little Lord Jesus asleep on the hay.

The cattle are lowing, the baby awakes, but little Lord Jesus no crying he makes.

I love thee, Lord Jesus! Look down from the sky, And stay by my cradle ‘til morning is nigh.

Rudolf the Red-nosed Reindeer

Rudolf, the red-nosed reindeer had a very shiny nose.

And if you ever saw him, you would even say it glows. All of the other reindeer used to laugh and call him names.

They never let poor Rudolf play in any reindeer games.

Then one foggy Christmas eve

Santa came to say:

“Rudolf with your nose so bright, won’t you guide my sleigh tonight?”

Then all the reindeer loved him as they shouted out with glee:

“Rudolf the red-nosed reindeer, you’ll go down in history!”

O Holy Night

O holy night! The stars are brightly shining, It is the night of the dear Saviour’s birth.

Long lay the world in sin and error pining.

Till He appeared and the Spirit felt its worth.

A thrill of hope the weary world rejoices, For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn.

Fall on your knees! Oh hear the angel voices!

O night divine!

The night, when Christ was born!

O night, O holy night, O night divine!

O night, O holy night, O night divine!

Angels We Have Heard on High

Angels we have heard on high, Singing sweetly through the night, And the mountains in reply

Echoing their brave delight.

Gloria in excelsis Deo.

Gloria in excelsis Deo

Shepherds, why this jubilee?

Why these songs of happy cheer?

What great brightness did you see?

What glad tiding did you hear?

Gloria in excelsis Deo.

Gloria in excelsis Deo.

Silent Night

Silent night, holy night

All is calm, all is bright

Round yon Virgin Mother and Child

Holy Infant so tender and mild

Sleep in heavenly peace,

Sleep in heavenly peace

Silent night, holy night!

Shepherds quake at the sight

Glories stream from heaven afar

Heavenly hosts sing Alleluia!

Christ, the Saviour is born,

Christ, the Saviour is born

Silent night, holy night

Son of God, love’s pure light

Radiant beams from Thy holy face

With the dawn of redeeming grace

Jesus, Lord, at Thy birth, Jesus, Lord, at Thy birth

Frosty the Snowman

Frosty the snowman was a jolly happy soul, With a corncob pipe and a button nose,

And two eyes made out of coal.

Frosty the snowman is a fairy tale, they say, He was made of snow but the children know how he came to life one day. There must have been some magic in that Old silk hat they found. For when they placed it on his head, He began to dance around.

O, Frosty the snowman Was alive as he could be, And the children say he could laugh and play just the same as you and me.

Frosty the snowman knew the sun was hot that day, So he said, “Let’s run and we’ll have some fun now before I melt away.

” Down to the village, With a broomstick in his hand, Running here and there all around the square saying, “Catch me if you can!”

He led them down the streets of town Right to the traffic cop. And he only paused a moment when he heard him holler “Stop!”

For Frosty the snowman had to hurry on his way,

But he waved goodbye saying, “Don’t you cry, I’ll be back again some day.”

Let it Snow

Oh the weather outside is frightful

But the fire is so delightful

And since we’ve no place to go

Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow! It doesn’t show signs of stopping

And I’ve bought some corn for popping

The lights are turned way down low

Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!

When we finally kiss goodnight

How I’ll hate going out in the storm!

But if you’ll really hold me tight

All the way home I’ll be warm!

The fire is slowly dying

And, my dear, we’re still goodbying

But as long as you love me so

Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!

Holly Jolly Christmas

Have a holly, jolly Christmas; It’s the best time of the year

I don’t know if there’ll be snow, but have a cup of cheer.

Have a holly, jolly Christmas; And when you walk down the street

Say Hello to friends you know and everyone you meet.

Oh, ho, the mistletoe hung where you can see; Somebody waits for you; Kiss her once for me.

Have a holly jolly Christmas, and in case you didn’t hear, Oh by golly, have a holly, jolly Christmas this year.

The

Christmas Song

Chestnuts roasting on an open fire, Jack Frost nipping at your nose, Yuletide carols being sung by a choir, And folks dressed up like Eskimos. Everybody knows a turkey and some mistletoe, Help to make the season bright.

Tiny tots with their eyes all aglow, Will find it hard to sleep tonight.

They know that Santa’s on his way; He’s loaded lots of toys and goodies on his sleigh.

And every mother’s child is going to spy, To see if reindeer really know how to fly.

And so I’m offering this simple phrase, To kids from one to ninety-two,

Although its been said many times, many ways, Merry Christmas to you!

Here Comes Santa Claus

Here comes Santa Claus, Here comes Santa Claus, Right down Santa Claus Lane, Vixen and Blitzen and all his reindeer Pullin’ on the reins.

Bells are ringin’, children singin’, All is merry and bright.

So hang your stockings and say your prayers, ‘Cause Santa Claus comes tonight.

Here comes Santa Claus, Here comes Santa Claus, Right down Santa Claus Lane, He’s got a bag that’s filled with toys

For boys and girls again.

Hear those sleigh bells jingle jangle, Oh what a beautiful sight, So jump in bed, and cover your head, ‘Cause Santa Claus comes tonight.
